Screws for aluminum siding
My latest project seems to be replacing all the screws that attach the aluminum siding on my home. The siding itself is perfect after almost 40 years, even the paint is in excellent shape but the screws have corroded to almost nothing. They used steel screws in aluminum which I understand from my re...

My Re-leveling Experience
This weekend I finally did the re-leveling of my double wide and thought I would write about it for those who are thinking of doing it themselves. It was a long dirty weekend but not as hard as I feared. I'd recommend a good dust mask. sturdy gloves, and the best knee pads you can afford. I was on h...

Re: A few more re-leveling questions
Thanks, I answered some of my questions by looking at the building code which confirms that the shims are perpindicular to frame. Most of mine are wrong so I'll change them as I adjust. I have 2 20 ton jacks and a 12 ton. Don't know what to use between the jack head and frame. I've heard of jack pla...

Re: Input on Buying/Selling Mobile Home
Are you selling a home in a park or is it a home to be moved? It makes a big difference where I live here in California. I was looking at replacing my old(73) home with a newer used one and it just doesn't make sense financially to buy one and move it. If it's moved here it has to be set up to curre...

A few more re-leveling questions
I've been psyching myself up to re-level my double wide and hope to do it this weekend but have a few more thoughts. I've measured at every pier and the furthest out is + 7/8" so I don't think I have any drastic lifting. Most are 3/8" or less off. As suggested I'll be renting probably 4 bo...

Re: Relevel
Thanks, I got under there and played around getting used to the level and it looks like I may have it pretty easy. I just checked the 4 corners and a few spots in the middle and the worst spot was a corner 5/8 low. The other points were within 1/8 which is probably good enough. I'll check every pier...

Relevel
So I purchased the Watrlevel from this site and it looks like a simple and useful tool. Haven't taken any readings yet since I want to remove some of the skirting to make it easier. I'm just wondering if it's even worth doing the relevel myself. I understand the process but it's looking like a lot o...

Re: underbelly repair
Thanks, That sounds like a workable way to fix this. I have an old edition of Mark's book and it doesn't say anything about joining dissimilar belly materials. I saw that adhesive on the website and it's a bit pricey but I want to use what works. I'd rather not have to do all this again. How far doe...

underbelly repair
I'm new to the forum here but I've owned Mark's book for a while and have done quite a few repairs on my '71 Fuqua but I'm a bit stumped by my deteriorating underbelly. Most is perfect but any place where it was cut for plumbing or wiring work has fallen off and now animals have gotten in there and ...
