RE: Flourescent bulbs
I have found that my CFL's don't last anywhere near the hours on the package. I use a fine marker pen and put the date on the base. One just failed and was dated 2005, so it lasted 2 years at a cost per bulb of............. I have marked my incandescents and will see how long they have lasted. Canno...

Be careful when cutting hardware cloth, very sharp points and stings from the coating. Another option is Gutter guards. But comes in a 5-pack. It comes with hooks that may come in handy. http://www.amerimax.com/productdetail.asp?iProductId=54&iSubCatID=14 (I used one to cover my Fit grille to ke...

RE: Poor electric heat
Robert; Regarding sequencers. I read somewhere that I could use #1819 28V lamps to allow me to see when my troublesome seq. were working or not. It would save me laying down on the floor and testing with my meter. Do they have to be inserted in parallel with the 24V wire going into the 3 seq.? Thank...

RE: Single wide heating question
Robert; Is there any way of calculating air flow properties for furnace/ducts etc. Or is this an HVAC secret formula. Reason I ask is, as many here, I inherited an old mobile that had an oil-fired furnace replaced with electric. The fan also had an adjustable drive pulley and I had no idea what was ...

RE: Programmable thermostats
My Hunter Energy Monitor thermostat has a time of furnace runs for 2 days and you can def. see the diff. in how long the furnace runs. I have kept monthly records since I moved here 20 years ago so I can compare trends whenever I did upgrades like insulation etc. I can even see the diff. when it is ...

RE: Single wide heating question
I defer to Robert when It comes to these things but these sites have some links to articles about air flow. My 74 single-wide has 2 ducts going to a front addition but no cold air returns.

RE: Overheating Sequencer wire
Robert; sorry I didn't get back sooner. I wasn't able to borrow an amp meter and had a PC crash. I replaced the broken new wire with the original wire. I also noticed all the new wires broke right where they come out of the crimp connected to the seq. I think that may be a clue to why they have fail...

Another thing to check is the damper springs have not broken or come loose from the btm of the tub. A quick check is to see how far the top rim of the tub will move in 4 directions. Some are damped. This is just one picture of a washer spring, there are more, click next. Yours may look diff. http://...

Re: RE: What the..? anyone seen this before?
how do they get each panel even with the next one if they just goop up 3/4-1" of spray foam and slap the panel up against it? The key word above may be "up". It's hard to think diff. but some roofs are made upside down at the factory and raised and flipped down on top of the pre-buil...

Not knowing which part of the country you are in but if the low spots are near the seam perhaps you could use the "Ice and Water Shield" to take the moisture past the seam. Or if you know where the leaks are maybe you can find this product. (Prices are Canadian) http://www.homehardware.ca/...

I checked the 5KW elements and all read 11.3 ohms on a digital meter.

Nearly all washers come with adjustable front legs.
Support the front with a piece of wood. Use a wrench to loosen the lock nut, unscrew the leg to adjust and re-tighten the lock nut.

RE: Overheating Sequencer wire
Thanks for the info, I always assumed if the 3 elements were working they were o.k. Maybe the res. has changed and has led to my having to change seq. so many times with a greater draw through them. I drew a red line in the second picture where the wire exits the seq. and enters the elements. I had ...
