Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

Three am o'clock in the morning time, I'm laying on the floor, freezing my butt off, staring at the blue tarp covering the 13' gaping hole in the East side of my house. (seriously, thirteen feet, not so much as a stud left standing.) ...I sure hope we get a wall up there tomorrow. I think that is th...

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

Tongues are coming off, but I am going to put some funky chrome tail lights with blue dots on the back. As well as some personalized plates and a bumper sticker!

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

Here's a handy trick for getting the flooring all the way under the walls, Apply upward pressure with a high lift jack and cut the nails above and below the floor with a sawzall. Pull out the old floor and slip in a fresh sheet of ply wood: http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/VintageSteel/Our%2...

Cheapest house in town, My house.

My wife and I came across a (double wide) house and a piece of land that we could afford to buy. It was, quite literally, the cheapest house in the Coeur d' Alene area. It is .25 acres with a 1976 24x50 double wide on it. The location isn't ideal, about 8 miles to our business, and the mobile is pre...

Re: Removing a hitch

I would use a 4 1/2 " grinder, and just grind the welds off. ... On second thought, I think I'd use the oxy acetylene torch. Either way, keep the garden hose and fire extinguisher handy and have a spotter, to watch for fire. I'm just going to unbolt mine.

Re: New roof trusses

The 12x60 rental I used to own had 2x4 headers running along the outside ( I think 3 high), tall enough to clear the domed roof. On top of those sat 2x4 trusses (3-12 pitch) on 2' centers. 1x6 slats ran lengthwise connecting all the trusses and tin was attached to the 1by' s It was (is) light weight...

Re: New roof on an old double wide?

No contractor. Just me and my cousin's Kenworth boom truck. I don't want a pole barn because, ...it would look like a trailer with a roof over it. I don't want it to look like a trailer. also, a completely new truss system would allow for much better insulation. Unless I am missing something? it see...

New roof on an old double wide?

I am looking at purchasing a piece of property with an old 24x56 double wide trailer on it. The trailer is set on concrete pads and braced along the perimeter. exterior walls are 2x4 studs. The pitch of the roof is really flat, (like) a 12-2, maybe a 12-1. I plan on stripping the old alum. siding, r...

Looking at buying an old trailer (MAJOR REMODEL NEEDED)

Hello, new here. My name is Russ. I was considering buying a small lot with an old trailer on it. Ideally I would just scrap the trailer and build a house but, zoning laws being what they are in Hayden, ID, the lot is Zoned "future commercial". As soon as I move the trailer, the lot then b...
