Re: Gas Fireplace...adding wall switch instead of remote con
Thank you, I will try that for my remote...at least then I will know if the problem is with the remote or the remote box...Still would like a wall switch though. They're cheap, and YouTube makes it look so easy, I may have to try it. I think the hard part is going to be threading the wires from the ...

Re: Gas Fireplace...adding wall switch instead of remote con
Thanks for your replies...all I know is the fireplace turns on just fine manually via the remote box. I've changed all batteries, taken the darn thing apart (both the box and remote), checked all wires, cleaned everything...and still the only way it comes on is on the remote box. That's why I'm sick...

Gas Fireplace...adding wall switch instead of remote control
I have a Vexar gas fireplace that is SUPPOSED to be turned on and off by remote control but I've had nothing but trouble with it. I had the remote replaced, the remote box replaced, both while the house was still under warranty. I have switched batteries in BOTH the remote and the remote box but it ...

Re: Installiing a Chandelier in Bedroom
Thanks for your reply! The chandelier is very light (probably doesn't weigh much more than the fixture that up now with the "lovely" frosted glass, it's smaller and only has 5 small candelabra lights) and the guy at Menards said it should easily replace the light fixture I have but I'll ma...

Installiing a Chandelier in Bedroom
I have a 2011 Friendship Home and those lovely builder grade frosted dome lights in all the rooms...without taking the light fixture down in my bedroom and looking (I'm an amature but have installed a ceiling fan), is it possible to put up a smaller chandelier in place of the dome lighting without t...

Re: outlets connected right to drywall with wings on screws.
Thanks for all your help...I think I will call an electrician and see what he would charge. It sounds like an easy enough job, and I do have some of those blue boxes but when it comes to electricity...well, let's just say I'd rather stick to tiling and painting. Thanks again!

outlets connected right to drywall with wings on screws....
First of all, I'm a 47 year old single mom and have been on my own long enough to know some DIY stuff, but when it comes to electrical, I hesitate. I have a 2 year old Friendship 28 x 48 my son and I love. I decided to do a mosaic tile backsplash (which turned out beautiful) but soon discovered my o...
