It depends on the type of roof. On a peaked roof like mine with the trusses 2' OC, I used 5/8" T&G plywood. I would use nothing less. It came with 1/2" OSB with H clips, which is min. code, but it was springy between the trusses and therefore not good enough.

It may be the threaded connector is cracked, have come across this myself. Go get a new shower head, they are cheap. Don't forget some teflon tape before you put the new one on. If it is leaking down the wall, I would think it is the elbow too though. Kinda hard for water to run up hill on the elbow...

If you can retain access to the bolts you put in, you may be able to tighten it right up over a period of time. Give them a bit of a tightening (1/2 turn or so) every day until the gap closes.

Ummm, my 2 cents. Can't resist. When you get into repairing and altering gas and electric it cannot be taken for granted that it has not been modified before, and by whom. There is no telling from a post what the poster is getting into. Like Digital says, even the pros have to consult manuals etc. I...

No PM?

Tried to PM today and got the message that PM's are disabled on this board. Did I mess something up?

Mods: Need a sticky

We need a sticky for all electrical and gas threads that reads: Call a qualified professional, lol. I see the topic still comes up quite often, and I wouldn't like to see anyone in the family getting themselves hurt or worse.

Could you swap lots? I am thinking it would save a set up. Move into your neighbours place, have your place demo'd/removed, put his new unit on your lot. Just a thought.

We had one of those spots too. Did the same thing (cut it out to look). Could not find anything. Still a mystery! Disappeared last year.

RE: Dryer Vent question

As long as the pipe size is correct, you are good with any of them. I would think it is a 4" pipe. Check though.

5/8" drywall is the minimum you want to go with. If you go thinner the ceiling will be wavy. This is true on joists being 16" OC and you probably have 24" OC. What was in there originally?

The old pressure treated wood contained copper arsinic (spelling?), bad for crops, kids, pets. The new stuff does not and should be OK. You have to put it together using ACQ rated fasteners as the new treatment prossesses will eat away other types.
