Re: Still here
Lately I have been busier than I want to be, and broker too...lol. I did manage to get some sliding by-pass doors built and installed, but no major construction. I have to find someone to get the facia up on the roof we had put on 2 years ago (ladders are not my friend anymore). Still trying to save...

Still here
All the excellent advice and points of view are still being read everyday. The answers are usually there before I have been able to chime in, so I have not posted in a long time. I figured I would just pop a post in to say hi to all my MH buddies. Have not done much work on the home for a while, but...

Changing the pitch of your roof is considered a structural change and requires a building permit.

Re: Ditra - anybody ever use in Mobile Home?
I have never used it personally, but it seems you watch the same shows I do. I think you have a good plan. The Schluter system (ditra) is the same I plan to use when I eventually get around to re renoing my bathroom. I also plan on using their Kerdi shower system when I get there.

Re: Wood stove installation - placement questions
I really do not like the idea of putting the air intake through the roof, and I am not sure it would be passed that way either. As far as putting anything on top of laminate floor to put the stove on, I suppose it could be done, but over time I am sure that moisture and spills would start to rot and...

Re: Wood stove installation - placement questions
Most of the info you are looking for can be found in your building code and the manufacturers instructions. For a start, you will be limited to selecting a woodstove that is Mobile Home rated. This means it will have a provision, that must be used, to draw air into the stove from the outside. With t...

I am not a Wood's Brothers fan, and I certainly NOT a ford fan, but I am not disappointed that Trevor Bayne won. After being a gentleman and helping just about anyone on the track, he got his just reward.....the checkered flag!

Re: NASCAR Daytona 500
The bud shoot out was a bit anti climatic. Hoping the best for Jr. this year, but still going to cheer for a few others I like. NASCAR starting is another sign of spring coming, isn't it?

Re: Bathtub replacement odd size
We have a 54" tub in one of our bathrooms too. Plans are to change it, eventually. I want to put in a standard 60" tub, so........going to move the wall 6". Overflows are pretty easy to plumb in. I agree with getting the whole kit with the surround. There are lots of options, just do ...

Re: wood stove installation
well then, thell them it is not "primary" heat. It is back up for power outages. I would shop around for insurance. A wood stove, properly installed, with a permit, and approved, is no more dangerous than any other heat source. My insurance co never even came out to look at it, they just w...

yes, everything was pre drilled. I do like Mike Holmes, although I have seen things he has done that I would have done differently. I hated the fact that I had to hire the job out, but I did do some of the work, pre cutting and drilling, on the ground....ladders are no longer my friend since I had m...
