Yup, got them here too! Not as many as there once was. They are getting replace with "normal" ones. The ones that attach to sheathing are junk!

RE: window in shower wall
I agree with the vent fan being the best solution. If it can be avoided don't put a window in a shower. They have a habit of causing problems in the future with the shower water hitting them. Go for the highest CFM you can find if you get a vent fan. A move you won't regret.

RE: vinyl siding-stud bleed through?
Well I am 20 years behind you but still get huge bouts of "brain farts" happening. The old, "walk into a room and then wonder what I came for" dilemma. lol. Seems there are always 3 more irons in the fire than can be handled. Anyway, if you are going to reclad the house, a layer ...

RE: comp roof and venting
Check out this ridge vent system. I really like it as the cupolla keeps the vents above the snow on a low sloped roof.

RE: vinyl siding-stud bleed through?
It is the same thing when you "see" the studs through drywall. Every place there is a stud, there is a thermal bridge from inside to outside. It does not have to be much of one, just so long as there is a temp. difference. This will transfer right through and the cooler spots will make the...

RE: Vertical Blinds - can they be painted?
painting blinds is a pain! Another thing that is a pain is putting on a decal or wallpaper. Sometimes it works out looking good though! Blinds are pretty cheap though! If you want to paint them, spraying is the only way to go!

RE: Oil Primer Rant
For small stains and bleeding knots in wood I have always had good luck with putting a coat of shellac on them before painting. Seals them up and they will not show through. Of course any stains/mold should be fixed at the source, but when you are trying to make an appartment that you rent look liva...

RE: Tankless Water Heater
I have not encountered a tankless water heater rated for MH use, nor have I found any other "Direct venting" appliance rated for MH's. What brand is it? I am curious about installing one myself if the parks water woes ever get fixed. Right now I have a 40 gal. heated that is a rental. This...

Never thought about the furniture inside part. Not a good idea to go down the highwaywith any furniture in the house. Remove everything that isn't bolted down....unless of course you don't mind your fridge going through a wall or something. lol. That's a Bubba move there!

RE: Weight
The tongue weight is exactly that. The weight that is on the tongue of the trailer. Most of the weight is on the wheels, but there has to be some on the tongue. It is usually about 10% of the total. If you phone a MH mover they may be able to estimate it for you. Are the axles on the home? The posit...

RE: Flourescent bulbs
Just look at what you are getting. There are 3 types of light, warm white, cool white, and daylight. One is bluish (cool) one is yellowish (warm), and one is full spectrum (day). The full spectrum is the one we prefer and they are harder to find. We get them at HD. Go and buy one of each and try the...

Apparently IKEA will take them. If you drop them off they send them to a company that extracts the mercury and re uses it for more CFL's. Best idea I've heard yet.

RE: Flourescent bulbs
A modern CFL (compact florescent light) has about 5 milligrams of mercury. Old style thermostats have from 500 to 3000 milligrams of mercury. About 13.6 milligrams of mercury are emitted to produce the electricity for one incandescant light bulb compared to 3.3 milligrams to use a CFL. So by using (...

RE: Wondering about Metal Studs...
I hate metal studs
1) They are a thermal link to the outdoors.
2) Electrical needs special consideration when passing through them.
3) They fail faster than wood in a fire.
4) They bend and twist easy if you are not careful when installing
Just my opinion
