RE: wiring for new ceiling fixture
Well hubby didn't have the patience to wait for a reply last night. He just did a process of elimination with the white wires. By having the other lights working in the kitchen and and none of the black and white wires attached he was able to get the right one so it would switch off at the light swi...

wiring for new ceiling fixture
Ok guys, Ceiling box has 3 white wires, 3 black and 3 ground. How do we hook up our new ceiling light(flushmount). This ceiling box has an on/off switch on the wall. There was previously a ceiling fan with a light on this ceiling. Hubby seperated all the wires and now (WE), as he says, are trying to...

RE: Best way to balance a ceiling fan so it doesn't wobble
Funny thing about one of our ceiling fans is that I cleaned mine about a week ago and it's been wobbling ever since. This has happened before also. It just took time in the past to level off for some reason. We tighten up all the screws, clean, check for damage, stuff like that about twice a year an...

RE: Water heater recommendation
Been looking all day at water heaters. Everyone says the same thing. If going from electric to electric or gas to gas they will all do it but if going from gas to electric they say we have to have an electrician out first. We still have the same wiring in the same place, same breaker etc as we did w...

RE: Water heater recommendation
We use to have an electric water heater so unless codes have changed we may not have a hook up problem. The electrical box is in the inside tho but the 30 amp breaker is still there. I know the new electric water heaters require 10 gauge wire and we're not sure what ours is. The gas company just cal...

Water heater recommendation
Well people when it rains it pours. First the car repairs(2,000.00), then the dryer went and now we need a new water heater. We currently have a gas one and are considering an electric one. My only problem with electric ones are how long it takes to heat up when I fill my big ole tub. Do any of you ...

Dryer recommendations please
Well my 20 year old dryer finally went . It's been a good one with I think only one service call. I need advice on getting a new one. Want a 7 cu ft. one for heavy duty comforters etc. Any advice. I don't want to spend over 600.00 for it. Energy efficient also. I've researced some from Sears, Lowes,...

RE: What's this?
Is the current smoke detector a battery operated one. Maybe they just took the old one off and replaced it with a new one that uses batteries. Lazily they didn't want to cover up the hole for some reason. Just a thought.

We figured it out. Our wiring(box) whatever he said is 60 -75 is all it would hold. Anyways I got to take it back.

Outside light on the inside
Hi everyone, We were just getting ready to install a new light. I got an outside ceiling mount(lantern style) to go inside our bathroom. Problem is when reading a warning label on the instructions we dont have a clue what it means. Hubby has always installed our lights, ceiling fans etc before but t...

RE: Storing clothing
Thank you, I sure like the extra space in the closets now. Just hope I don't junk them up with something else. It's hard to resist filling any empty spaces here.
Have a great day.

Storing clothing
Hi everyone, I've been cleaning out the closets and I bought those big plastic containers to store our clothes in till winter etc. It shouldn't hurt them should it. I'm getting a late start in my spring cleaning, I might be done by summer. I wish I had a digital camera and knew how to use it t...

I just couldn't wait till tomorrow to call Home Depot to find out. I may order it online tonight. I'm just not use to ordering stuff online.
Thank you again.

caulking granite
Does anyone know if I can caulk a granite backsplash to the granite countertop. Our instructions don't say. It just says to use construction adhesive on the back of backsplash to secure to the wall. We want to naturally use clear caulk in front of the backsplash so water won't get under it. It's pro...
