RE: Is it a bad idea

While the foam board may be easier to install it will not offer the same R value as the fiber glass insulation. It will also not likely stop any critters from entering under the home as most can chew or claw through it fairly easily. The best deterrent for animals is to make sure the skirting does n...

RE: Doublewide Remodel to Increase Value

Another option you might consider. Sell the home for a higher price with a refund or return once it is closed upon for the new owner to do some repairs. Financing a home and then financing a home repair loan may turn some people away if you decide not to do the repairs before you sell. Offering them...

RE: Frostline Piers

Kinda depends on who you talk to. Some may want to pull the home out, drill the holes, then reset the home. Others may do it with home in place and just remove skirting. Either way I doubt that it will be cheap $2000 and up I'm guessing. If the home has been in place for a few years chances are that...

RE: help with bathroom toilet

Not sure about the toilet going bad but the flapper valve in the toilet could effect this. If it is a few years old it may not be staying open long enough to let the amount of water through as it should. Hard water deteriorates them even faster. A complete toilet kit can be purchased at most home st...

RE: Doors not shutting anymore?

I would say that that home needs to be re leveled. If it is on blocks that rest on the ground instead of frost footings then some settling would be expected after the home was set up.

RE: Roof coating

If I remember correctly we had a post awhile back about someone who tried to coat their roof with the white coating over the silver. Needless to say it didn't stick and peeled up. Be sure to check whether they will adhere together if you decide to go with a different coating over the old stuff.

RE: NM-B wire and WOG/Wg Wire

I can't say that I am to sure about the WOG wire. From what I can gather though here are some specs. Type THHN insulation, rated 90 degrees Celsius, 600 volts. Gray PVC jacket. Direct burial. Dwellings not exceeding 3 floors above grade. Underground feeder to outdoor lighting or apparatus. Exposed o...

RE: water heater ??

Lot's of things to take into consideration. How much hot water usage are you using? Is the water heater located within the living space (ie. In a closet or utility room)? What type of repalcement are you considering? How old is the old unit and what is it's ratings? If you have a large family that u...

RE: Ceiling light

Most I have dealt with have two little wire triangles on one of the long sides of the cover, on the inside edge where the lens is. I use a screw driver to pull these out as they are latches and the panel swings down.

RE: shower nozzle problem

I have also never seen one that attaches with out threads. You may get lucky though and be able to remove the plate that covers the hole and unscrew the pipe without having to remove a wall panel to get at it. Put some Teflon tape on new pipe and reinstall. Check for leaks then add new head. Of cour...
