Re: Mice in the wall

I have always had excellent results with rat poison and believe that every mobile home should always have it placed outside under the home at all times. After placing poison I have not seen a single mouse even in the vicinity of my place nor have I ever had any oder issues. Traps are fine but are a ...

Re: Good place for a water main shut-off

I prefer to bring my main into the home under the bathroom sink. Makes for a short run to the hot water tank.
I also have a line shutoff under the bathroom sink leading to the outside tap. This makes for easy draining of the outside line in the fall.

Re: Patio Cover falling off !!!

You may find that the patio it sits on is sunk slightly causing the cover to pull away from the house. If it has, or not, you may be able to move the awning back toward the house by raising a post (or a few posts) with blocking to gain the movement you need to reattach. Get a level out and determin ...

Re: Baseboards over wall panel covers

I did an entire house this past winter. Place the molding on the floor against the strip to locate the cut line. Mark lightly with a pencil and cut with a utility knife. Pushing the tip of the knife straight into the strip works easier than drawing it across the strip. Your trim will cover any marks...

Re: pipe reduction

Reducing to 1/2 inch will reduce your flow rate. Whether it affects your irrigation system will depend on your water pressure and the volume of water required at your irrigation end. If the irrigation system requires a high volume or high pressure the reduction may be noticeable but until you test i...

Re: Tankless Hot water heaters

KL brings up a valid point for consideration. These can cause problems if connected to a well especially in a park. they do require minimum flow rates/water pressure to operate. On in my park shuts off if water pressure drops below 30 psi.

Re: sewer water coming out of open sewer lines?

Not sure why you have two parallel drain lines so you will need to map out their runs to determine their purpose. I would guess you will need to get under the house. As far as snaking is concerned there is no reason the snake would not go past bends in the pipe. Measure the length of snake in the pi...

Re: Remodel in progress

I realise I am some what late in posting but as a renovator of mobile homes it is my personal opinion, especially if you are planning to stay in the place, that vinyl siding is 1000% better to use than any type of fake wood panels to upgrade a home and add the max in curb appeal. I have done several...

Re: Consequences of an overflowing toilet...

No bathroom should ever have a carpeted floor in my personal opinion. It is a breeding ground for germs and mold under normal conditions but around a toilet it is guaranteed to be both especially following a overflow. Remove the carpet immediately even if it means living with a bare subfloor tempora...

Re: Partial water line replacement

I do not know if it on all the packaging but I do no that up here (Ontario Canada) it says on the packaging of the brass fittings that they are not to be used on systems on well water.

Re: Partial water line replacement

One point to note is that the manufacturer of the pex fittings does not recommend using the metal fittings on a water system connected to a well. No Idea why but they make plastic pex fittings for well water systems.

Re: My kitchen project

If you can't have the boxes made go on youtube and learn how to make your own boxes to fit the existing face frames. It is very simple construction.
Having cabinet boxes is far superior to the build in place flimsy system the home manufactures use.

Re: My kitchen project

I just removed my cabinets this past winter doing a total reno. The home was built in 87. The only thing I saved was the face frames and doors/drawers. It was easier to simply build new boxes from 5/8s melamine than try to salvage the rickety old built in place frames.

Your wife was being kind with her description. I assume you were all out of white tape at the time of the repair.
