Re: mice... how to get rid of them
Although poisons may have a side effect of smell, which I have never encountered, it is the only method I know of that is a wide range sure fire method of getting rid of the little pests. Poisons generally kill all visitors in a wide area around a home where as traps or cats work on the bases of wai...

Re: Legal Question Regarding Parks and decks???
I would echo the comment regarding the county inspector. Be very nice to him/her and if they says it must be done try to get a longer time line for completion. Code violations can be sited and enforced by officials everywhere I know of so most likely same in your case. It is possible owners could mo...

Re: Honeywell Model # 3020N40
I was not really comfortable buying used as I am concerned about safety. Having it installed by a professional and properly tested would have elevated most of my safety concerns but could not guarantee longevity. The fact is I have bought this home with the intention of renovating and reselling. The...

Re: Honeywell Model # 3020N40
Talking to the owner again it is definitely not a Honeywell. He believes it to be a Clair or something like that. I have never heard of this maker but regardless it appears to be quite old and not suitable to invest money in to install in a home. My options are very limited and due to time and weath...

Re: underbelly insulation
In my park, also in Ontario, it is becoming popular to have spray foam insulation applied to the skirting. Everyone that has had it done experiences warmer floors and heating cost savings to some degree. Spray foam companies charge $800 to $1200 to spray the entire skirting on a single wide. My only...

I was not confident I was getting accurate information from the owner over the phone.
Hopefully I will have a chance to see it myself this weekend and get more info.
Thanks
Greg

Honeywell Model # 3020N40
Is there anyway to determine the year of a furnace from the information on the identification plate. I have some info regarding the furnace but am not sure how reliable it is as I was given it over the phone by the owner. I am looking to buy it but will not if it is more than 10 years old. The info ...

House Leveling
In regards to jacks for leveling homes what tonnage capacity is recommended/required.
I am planning on drywalling this winter and since the place is definitely not level I will need to level before the snow flies or will not be able to drywall.

Furnace removal
I am in the process of replacing a old Beach oil furnace with a new propane furnace. I have removed all the screws in place and the old furnace is now loose. What do I do about the chimney? Do I remove it to get the old furnace out? Is any of it reused when the new propane furnace is installed? If I...

Furnace replacement
I need general info on Mobile Home furnace specifications. Long story short there is widow friend in my park that as of yesterday no longer has a furnace. Winter is closing in and it must be replaced. She has no money so I am assisting. She owns a 1978 12' X 65' Northlander. We are in Eastern Ontari...

You may find floor joists needing replacement. Consider sistering new joists to old for better support while you have the floor open.

Whats the market like over your way?
Although it's been fairly good this summer in our park we have one that just went on the market and the agent is not confident it will sell due to the timing.
Are you in a position to wait till the spring?

Assuming you have the space it's as easy as calling a plumber and electrician to asses the situation and give you an estimate.
Make sure you are sitting down when they give you the estimate.
The hard part is always paying professionals to do the work.

Other than building a new roof over the entire home anything else will be relatively temporary and prone to leaking. Especially considering spring snow melt conditions.

RE: Should I buy this
But is it worth it?
What are the comps for the area? What are the projected repair costs?
Without those answers it could simply be a overpriced money pit.
Consider how long it has been for sale and if it is a good price why has it not already sold ?
