SOLVED - Shower faucet problems
We have 2 bathrooms--a shower in one, shower/tub in the other. The hot water in the shower/tub lost pressure until it was a trickle, so I hired a handyman to fix it. He didn't turn off the water, so scalding water was spraying everywhere for several minutes, until he shut off the water to the whole ...

Re: Muttering under my breath….
The easiest way to see the file size while uploading it is this. When the dialog box opens, click the little icon on the upper right of it. This will show you the sizes of all the files in your folder. If you're using Windows, you can also just open the folder your file is in. Click VIEW, then there...

Re: mice deterant
Indoor cats aren't a nuisance to neighbors.
And they won't stink if you keep the litterbox changed and fresh. If you don't...well, cat urine is not exactly room deodorizer, LOL.

Re: Deck repair question
OK, I'll try to answer all your follow-up questions in one post. :) Bondo (and Ron): The sticker on it says it's pressure treated, and I paid for pressure treated wood. Maybe I got pressure treated junk instead, LOL. It's definitely not bowing in the middle, as I checked that before I started drilli...

Re: Deck repair question
Ron, Thanks for your quick reply. I had to get a 1x6 to match the other piece of wood, or else we could have tripped over a thicker board mounted next to the thinner one. Maybe I should get 2 thicker boards next time, so they would be the same height. I'll also be sure to ask at the lumberyard, whic...

Deck repair question
A board on our (very small) back deck rotted, split, and broke. So I replaced it yesterday with a new piece of pressure-treated wood. I used screws, and drilled pilot holes for them, to prevent damage to the wood. I only used 6 screws, as there were only three support boards underneath (2 screws to ...

Re: Storage in crawlspace?
Important papers/records should always be kept in a bank safety deposit box. I guess I didn't clarify. These aren't important papers in that sense; these are paper goods I collected in my youth, just items that have sentimental value to me. We're dealing with the truly important documents appropria...

Re: Storage in crawlspace?
Greg, do you know if condensation would form inside the plastic bag or container, and ruin my papers/photos? As you say, it's better than nothing. I think the real important papers would be better off in a bank vault. We're keeping birth certificates, etc., with us, as the nearest bank is 30 miles a...

Re: Storage in crawlspace?
a tornado will most likely shred your mobile home to bits, maybe even faster than it will take a stick built home to be destroyed. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm aware of how vulnerable MH's are...and I'm also concerned that our MH might no longer even be as sturdy as the average one. Because our ...

Storage in crawlspace?
Our MH is on a concrete foundation, and has a nice 4-foot high crawlspace. Tornado season is approaching, and I was wondering if the crawlspace would be a good place to store items that we don't want to lose, if a tornado were to strike. We have a couple suitcases to bring the most important stuff w...

Re: Winterizing a manufactured home
We had an awful time finding ours. It turned out to be in the crawlspace, near the pipes leading up to the laundry room.UmpJJ wrote:Is there a separate shutoff for an outside faucet? Would it be close to where the faucet runs through to the outside?

Re: Need help asking electrician questions
I'll try to address both of you in one post, rather than double-posting.... Greg, thanks for the chart. I'm not sure if you meant that you consider a 1970's/80's MH to be "newer"--ours was built in 1975. I have to confess, I worry about the electrician's work, because at one point, he didn...
