Need help asking electrician questions
I'm concerned about some electrical work I had done, because the guy connected some of the regular, thinner household wire to our MH's thicker wiring, to replace some light switches. He says it's safe, but I'm not so sure. Also, our bathrooms don't have GFCI outlets (which we want to have installed)...

Re: Need help replacing bath/shower fixtures
Actually, the paneling on the wall behind the tub/shower is gone, presumably because somebody else did a repair on it before we moved in. Problem is, our heavy washer and dryer are directly in front of where I'd have to access the plumbing. Normally, I could move those with the hand truck, but the l...

Need help replacing bath/shower fixtures
The diverter valve is shot, the hot water faucet isn't letting the hot water out anymore (we had a guy fix it once, but now it's down to a trickle again), and the whole mess is just plain grungy, so we want to replace it all! I'm scared to hire anyone in town, because one of them literally damn near...

Re: First time home buyer, How much will central AC run me?
I would say around $2,500 to $3,500. I would personally get a Heat Pump because that electric furnace is going to sky rocket your bill in winter. Only get a heat pump if you live in a climate with mild winters. According to my own experience and our electric company, heat pumps can only warm the ai...

You can upload an image by using an external image host. Try http://www.tinypic.com - you upload an image there, it will give you a URL that you can use on a forum. They give 2 versions, one of which will work on just about any forum. If not, just copy the direct URL (the one with no tags). Post the...

Re: pipes in winter
If you will be away from your house, leave your heating thermostat at a reasonable temperature and open faucets to let them drip slightly. This may prevent freezing. I know I'm late to the party here, but letting faucets drip in a MH is a recipe for disaster. The previous owners of my MH did that, ...

Re: Loud popping noises
Do you have snow on your roof? My DW makes a variety of noises. The loudest is the ac ductwork in the winter. Yours, too? Our ducts with the thinnest metal make awful sounds every time the heat goes off. It's a big, startling BOOM, when the metal expands and contracts. I'm going to go into the craw...

Re: Things I'd do differently..
I have regrets about some things the previous owner of our MH did...does that count? If so.... I wish the exterior spigot shut-off valve was up here in the house, instead of in the crawlspace. Yesterday, I just got home from a miserable, exhausting day out of town, only to learn there was a freeze w...

Re: Water inside A/C duct near furnace room
I'll have to have an HVAC tech out, anyway, because the furnace room is so tiny, I simply couldn't begin to access the unit--even changing filters is tough. But I'll print out your post so that the technician can check all those things, and see that's going on.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Water inside A/C duct near furnace room
I noticed water pooling inside the A/C duct that's closest to the furnace room, but am unsure about how it got there. It doesn't seem to be from condensation (despite the humidity lately) because it's not on the sides, just the bottom of the duct. This duct is right beside the washer, too, but I don...

Wow...this makes me glad our double-wide is in a small town, instead of a trailer park. I hope things will continue settling down for you, so you can live in peace.

Re: Anybody got a hay rake?
We could use your mower for the darned weeds we have in our back yard. It keeps raining so often, that we've had no time to mow it. And now that it's finally sunny outside, our A/C broke down, and it's 88 degress here in the house. So no hard work for us...it'd be impossible to cool down, and there'...

Re: Looking for Mobile home parts store
You could look in the Yellow Pages for places that sell mobile homes; they'd be apt to know where parts are available in your area. Failing that, search Google for "mobile home parts" and do two searches: one with "Cleveland, TN" and one with "Chattanooga, TN" beside th...
