Pops, Lowes in my city has a product that is a set of one fitting and one type of each needed crimp, which might be the easiest way to buy them if you only need one or two fittings, vs getting a bag of each type of crimp. Of course, I was worried about dropping the crimp down the wall, so I bought t...

this may seem weird, but I was new to working on homes at the time.... I missed that there was a 1 foot by 2 foot floor duct for the air conditioner 1 foot diameter line that the line had fallen off of, and you could see the ground looking down the duct. I put a piece of insulation into the bottom o...

RE: Rigid insulation under house
I put one by twos up across the joists in the area I had to repair, then I slid/threaded the length insulation above them. I stapled the paper edges to the joists. having the wood up first made it easier for me to do the repair by myself. I usually would not work under a home by myself, but all of t...

RE: Window Quote from window dealer/installer. $12000
I had a window literally fall apart in my hand that I was just trying to remove old outside trim from with a utility knife. I pulled on the trim, and parts of the window detached from the wall and also pulled out. I had to use a new construction house window from Home Depot. (had to get a window bac...

elevated drain line under tub
Ok, so much for thinking it was getting easier to do this plumbing stuff! lol the question: is it hard to cut and lower a drain line that is running under the tub for 4 feet, and is elevated about 4 inches above the current flooring? the flooring is shot and is being repaired/replaced. the drain lin...

RE: Another cold water problem
I am not a plumber, but I have heard that if you have a drain on the tank near the bottom of the tank, it helps to open it monthly and drain out 2 or 3 gallons of water. I do this into a clean bucket, and let it sit until the air bubbles are gone, and check to see if it had sediment in it. if it did...

RE: Installing new Dryer Vent...
to help prevent crushing the pipe before you get a chance to upgrade it, you might consider placing a brick or a rock between the back of the dryer and the wall. that way, the dryer cannot accidently be pushed back too far and compress the hose.

This may sound a little out there, so comment away experienced rehabbers lol..... We had redone the bathroom floor, and I was feeling flex in the flooring at the duct, so I put strip of 3/4 inch plywood on on each side of the duct opening inside the duct strip about 3 inches wide, pushed it and the ...

http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/3210_100_3381_2.jpg Here is the photo of the minicloset/tub surround supporting wall I made in a home last year. I am very happy with the results, I had hired a guy to figure out the repair, and he kept delaying getting it done, and I ended-up figuring it o...

RE: Opinions please on bathroom remodel
if you send me your email (mine is bluegreen11@att.net) I have a photo that might be helpful, I just cannot remember how to get it to post on the forum. it is a bath remodel where I made a small closet to enclose the end of the bath tub to put up the tub surround. this also gave me a very solid wall...
