Re: 1997 multiple water line leaks

I was working with a quality contractor, and he accidently hooked a toilet up to hot water, and had to come back to change it to cold water.... he now used red pex for hot water lines...lol

have you priced 100 ft pex rolls? 200 to 300 feet might be less cost than 500 feet.

Re: Z flashing Questions and J rail

thought of something else... on one home, the water was flying out of the channel and down the wall because the j channel was full of roof coating... I scraped it out with the claw end of a hammer (picture hanging the hammer in the channel by the hook end, I scraped back and forth, and vacuumned the...

Re: Z flashing Questions and J rail

this can help some, I have done this on about 3 older homes that had a low spot in the j channel... (we are talking about the small channel of metal at the top of the walls/edge of the roof right? lol) If the water runs off mostly in one spot, you can take a piece of aluminum flashing, and bend it i...

Re: Leaky Window

you probably will have to wait, so that the wet materials dry out it would not be ideal to seal the moisture inside also, most caulks, sealants etc are temperature rated, and it would be hard to find one that would work in the current conditions.... maybe you can put some blue painting tape over the...

Re: flooring

please don't get discouraged about floor repairs.. i think it is the most common repair in older mobile homes if the home has factory installed particle board floors....floors and windows were the first two major repairs I learned to do to renovate mobile homes.... I hired someone to do a few floor ...

Re: flooring

first you have to find the water leak sources (plumbing, roof leaks, window leaks, roof leaks that went down through the walls, drain line leaks, door leaks etc) so your repairs don't get ruined... fix the water leaks... remove the floor coverings, and get an idea of what size repairs you have going...

Re: Removing aerator?

you can get a new faucet, the aerator will not be so hard to remove, install the brita, then install the faucet with the brita already on it onto the existing sink...... if you go the new sink route, install the brita on the faucet, the new flexible water lines on the faucet, the faucet onto the sin...

Re: Abandoning ship! Water off?

some quick steps to help winterize.... a wet vac can get almost every bit of water out of the toilet tank, and a lot from the bowl. that way the rv antifreeze is less diluted (stronger) when you put it in the bowl a 1/2 to cup of the antifreeze in every drain helps protect the drain traps You can ge...

Re: Question About Rope Caulk

another thing I use for bigger gaps is sill insulation. it is a pink foam, you can tear it by hand to pack a gap, and put the caulk in front of it also. best thing I like about that product, is that it is easy on my hands. and being able to tear it to size. I sometimes use a spatula to push it into ...

what do folks think about the bead board pattern paneling on the ceiling? it is the weight of paneling, looks very country/old fashioned, and it is available preprimed and you could paint it before you install it...

Re: Suggestions (or help) with mold problem under / behind tub

Try planning the remodel two ways... repairs only, or gut the thing and rebuild. you may not have as big of a price difference as you think if you can get a family member/friend to do the labor part for free... you end up with a better result going to the studs (and old floor out too if it is shot) ...
