RE: Vinyl Plank Flooring
I have used the vinyl plank flooring, both the tile pattern and the wood pattern in 3 mobile homes. I have used it in bathrooms, in front of sinks in kitchens, and recently did my whole kitchen in my apt. I needed an extra box of the tile patterns vs the wood pattern, because you want to match the f...

Erick, you may want to look into the idea of whether you want the home to be made into permanent real estate, with a deed, which can be done if you use the approved type of foundation. this affects your taxes, what type of financing you would be able to get, and comes into play if you plan to sell i...

RE: What kind of flooring for my Dad?
There is another floor you might want to look into that Home Depot sells. It is called "allure". It is vinyl planks, it is a floating floor, with glue strips that connect the planks to each other. it is very easy to install, you score it and snap it to cut it. there is a line of wood patte...

RE: painting metal siding
JD, the sherwin williams manager told me Duration was "self priming" and that it was primer and finish coat in one? and that I could use it alone on the exterior if I had cleaned the metal siding before painting. have they ever told you anything similar? I went ahead and used it alone, but...

Pesky roof leaks
I sold a mobile home, that had two small roof leaks, that I put in the contract we would fix. the roof is the metal with aluminum/tar coating on it, and had been coated the previous summer. Put extra heavy coating in the area, found a few holes at the edge that we coated, thought we had it fixed. We...

RE: Tub/shower..out with the old..in with the new..
Hello Audie, I am going to do a little "outside the box" type brain storming, see if anything hits you as doable. 1. since you are down to the studs, can you raise the shower tray off the joists enough to get the drain in, (2 to 6 inches?) and make a shallow step in front of the shower are...

You may want to check the install instructions, most laminate flooring snap together type has a maximum number of feet you can run without a break, something like 22 or 27 ft? I think that is because gaps can happen with temperature changes when the floor expands and contracts. so if the length is g...

what else you may want to do is add a water diverter above the door if the door is not under cover of a porch etc. I had a friend bend coil stock prefinished aluminum. You can do it with bending it with a board, I just had it done on a brake because he made 15 of them the same day for me. it basical...

Belinda, why not consider leaving a mini kitchen in the double wide, maybe just a sink base with sink, larger dorm room size fridge that might fit under the countertop of the base, and just remove the wall cabinets? you could leave the outlets as they are. it would function as a minibar, nachos and ...

Wow that repair turned out great. I hope the tiles hold up, because it is a really well finished repair job, I have done similar stuff for older homes, but stopped at the wood stage, and just painted it lol

On Blevins some of their locations have a will call desk, and some will sell to the general public if you go there and do a cash and carry sale (pay cash, and take it away right then... ) I have been able to make take a can of the popcorn touch up paint, spray the area, and get it looking similar. i...

RE: Stand Alone Roof-Over
Hi Pat! Glad to see you made it through winter. Are you making this covered roof big enough that you can park a vehicle under cover also and place the parking so that you can walk to the door out of the weather? if it doesn't add that much more cost to get the carport function out of it, the plannin...

RE: Water Damage under cabinets
Do you mean the mobile home floor sinks under the cabinet, or just the floor of the cabinet space is curved? (the board) I have had several cabinets that the bottom board was warped, but not soft or mushy. no up or down give. in that case, I just put some blocks of wood in the low spot, put in some ...

RE: window help please
this company on internet has cases of acrylic blocks and supplies to make your own window, maybe it is the way to go if you want to just save the current window. I did not check the prices. if you call, they may be willing to sell you just a few blocks? http://www.acrylicblocks4less.com/page/page/44...
