someone else needs to take this idea and fly, but would the water heater be able to have the water enter if there is nowhere for the displaced air to go? how does a water heater vent the air as the water comes and goes? the hissing noise has me curious about whether something is causing air pressure...

Handymen will often do the plumbing, but not the electrical on mobile homes. (reasoning I have been told is, plumbing mistakes seldom kill anyone :-) if that doesn't work...
