RE: patching cement board skirting

is it called cement board because it is cement? I'm not being sarcastic, I haven't gotten to see this type of skirting yet! if it is really a cement product, how about wire mesh taped to back, and troweling on the outdoor grade of concrete on the front and back of the board? this type of concrete co...

RE: Hey Mark..got a question for ya!

well, since you are going to add the screws anyways, is now a good time to put up some small gutters and then secure the siding?

RE: question about hot water hiss

someone else needs to take this idea and fly, but would the water heater be able to have the water enter if there is nowhere for the displaced air to go? how does a water heater vent the air as the water comes and goes? the hissing noise has me curious about whether something is causing air pressure...

RE: Winterizing a Mobile Home near Truman Lake in Missouri

if the dishwasher is not being used, how about disconnecting the water line to it, and making it into a clean dishes storage unit?

one less place to have water problems, and the racks hold a lot of dishes...

RE: Winterizing a Mobile Home near Truman Lake in Missouri

Mark sells an adapter piece that allows you to attach an air compressor hose to the clothes washer spigot. Once you do that, you get a really good connection that allows you to blow out all the water lines, one at a time, use a little air pressure to help drain the water heater etc. I did cold water...

RE: possible to install bellywrap from above?

thought folks might like to see how the job turned out. This is an older mobile home that I do not think I can get this area "like new". but it is a whole lot better than it was. The first picture, the flat wood rectangle is the top of the pier.... I took all the loose stuff out, including...

RE: Refinish Metal Front Door

would a new door of good to best quality have a finish that would last longer, especially if it was a white or cream color door? I worked in metal finishing industry years ago, and prepping the surface made all the difference in how the door stood up to the elements. a factory painted door may do be...

possible to install bellywrap from above?

Hi all, I need to brain storm with folks. I had to open up the floor inside of the door on 1975 mobile home. I removed the subfloor and started pulling out the moldy stuff, when realized I had handfuls of fragile paper belly wrap in my hand! sigh... looked down and over to the outside wall and rim o...

skin the cat another way.....

If you can find the closest mobile home part store, you may want to call to see if they know any folks that work on Mobile homes. Handymen will often do the plumbing, but not the electrical on mobile homes. (reasoning I have been told is, plumbing mistakes seldom kill anyone :-) if that doesn't work...

RE: Sub Floor

Hi Tim, I understand that tendency to want to do the repair from above if possible, if the belly is in good shape. It can be easier to go from below the MH, so it is a coin toss on whether you want to cut your floors, or your belly wrap. it is warmer and more light from above though, LOL! I found in...

Is there a ceiling exhaust fan in the bathroom? or a ceiling light fixture? I was thinking maybe you could turn off the power to one of them, take the cover off, and disassemble enough to get a peak up into the ceiling that way. or... could you take an awl and punch a holes in the area you want to c...

RE: Tie Downs

mike, you may want to get the bank to put in writing exactly what they are asking for, because if it is a "permanent foundation" to change from the mobile home being titled as personal property to real estate with a deed, that is a whole lot different than getting tie downs for increased s...
