re attaching ducts opeings to floor
Hi! I have two heating duct openings, where registers covers would go, that have detached from the floor of the MH, and need to be reattached or rejoined to the above floor somehow. there is not a lot of rim on these, maybe 1/2 an inch, and it is very bent. Basically, in one area you can see the gro...

RE: Metal Siding
I was surprised that I was able to get brown rust stains completely off of white painted aluminum siding today with a soft car brush, and a powder cleaner. I had got ithe cleaner at a $$ store, it was the powder cleaner for cook tops. It had "removes rust" on the label, and it did great, w...

RE: Japanese Beetles
Hi Mike, I have seen those ladybugs make it through brand new vinyl windows with intact caulking, they don't like the cold apparently. I vacumn them up, since the type I deal with smell if you crush them, and stain the light paint orange also. all I can figure is they squeeze through the fuzzy space...

RE: re-introduction
Dear Solveg, the one room at a time approach works well for me, but it can be slower. For example, if you only paint one room, instead of two, you have to clean up twice. but the emotional boost of being able to say, one room down, 4 to go, etc. often has been well be worth it to me. and besides, yo...

RE: skirting update
Duh, boy did I have a brain dead moment, of course I can have the bottom track on, and slide the skirting down it, and out to the far side of the porch. thanks for the logic check!!! will be awhile to get to the skirting, I may be painting the home, and I am a very messy painter, and it the skirting...

skirting update
Thank-you for all the skiritng install advice on my previous post, it really helped out in an unexpected way! because I had been "studying-up" on the skirting, I realized when movers came to drop off a porch I was moving from another MH, I needed to hurry and install the top rail before th...

RE: Attaching a deck
this may seem strange, but if you save the vinyl siding after you remove, install the handiplank, and just do a temporary install of the vinyl on top of the handiplank in such a way that you can get it off easily (removable caulk? minimum number of roofing nails?) would that look better than the sin...

RE: metal skirting
Maureen and all, would any of the advice on metal vs vinyl change if I mention I am rehabbing for resale? So I need fastest time to install, and lowest cost. metal siding, with a pebble trench, sounds nice but slow. How would vinyl skirting, with needing to anchor into concrete and some of it on lan...

skirting
Hi Everyone, I moved a mobile home, and survived, and I am ready to learn about vinyl skirting. I am considering using the landscape timbers to place the bottom rail on to avoid weed wacker damage to skirting. OR could I use treat 2X4, and put the railing on top of that? would I let the 2X4s unattac...
