RE: Cover Furnace?
We replaced the door in front of our furnace, but we also had a new furnace installed first. The filter is attached to the front of the furnace which sits in a little closet-like area. The original door was made from the same paneling as the walls and had a vented area too. We bought a wooden louve...

RE: Installing Water Softener.
Wow, that looks complicated! We bought ours at Lowe's and had it installed by the guy who owns the park we live in. He's a real handyman kind of guy and does all kinds of work for the residents. It's in our laundry room. There had already been one there but it was really old and non-functioning, so...

Just wondering...
If a mobile home is set up on a concrete slab that covers the entire area under the home, will the home be stable or still become unlevel in the future? I've noticed that all the new homes around here are set up now on concrete pads. In fact, our "oldie" is on concrete too.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I think it would be pretty. But....it would be a little too neutral for my tastes. What accent color(s) would you use?

RE: More work on the addition..........
Well, I asked hubby and he said no diagonal bracing. We basically replaced what was already there (and lasted 40 years). We discovered that it was originally a really big patio. There are several big 4x4 posts along the front. The original room was not insulated, caulked around windows or anything....

JD,
Not that I know about. I've never seen diagonal bracing before. Why would that be needed?

More work on the addition..........
Here are some pics of the front addition room. Hubby has replaced all the studs and sills. He's working on it right now, putting up the sheeting. Hopefully the house wrap and windows will be in by tonight! BEFORE: http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/36_front_addition_1.jpg WITH NEW STUDS: htt...

RE: Petunias.......
Update on the petunias........We found out that we were not watering them enough. Watered them every day, but not enough at a time. We still have blooms, but there's a lot of dead stuff too. Guess we waited too long. On a positive note, we have a bird's nest in one of them!! Not sure what kind of b...

Petunias.......
I bought 2 hanging baskets with purple petunias (and a couple other flowers too) about 2 weeks ago. They were the most beautiful baskets I'd ever seen. Really full of flowers. Sad to say that's not the case anymore  I don't know if I'm watering them too much or too little or if they are not ge...

RE: More Water Heater
Robert........why the need to drain a water heater? Once or twice a year sounds excessive to me. But obviously I know nothing about them. Is that for both gas & electric?? We got ours about a year ago and have never drained it. Hubby also didn't put a drain pan under ours. I'm sure he didn't kn...
