RE: Lumps and bumps under tiles.
If you want to take up the tiles, try using a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. I did that years ago and it works pretty well. Time consuming but the tiles don't get damaged. Good luck.

RE: Outside Remodel ??
This is a shot of our new windows with new siding. As JD said, the siding tucks in around the edge of the window trim and looks great. I am sooooooooo happy to have mine. We should have the front of the house done by early July.

RE: Central air not working!
Well, it's fixed. The same company that installed it came out today. Seems that the company (Intertherm) provided them with a bunch of units with bad o rings. The o rings inside the furnace and I guess outside in the A/C unit were both bad and the freon had all leaked out. The repair guy said that ...

RE: Another gas hike????
Gas here in NW Indiana has been $3.39. Today it's down to $3.25 for regular unleaded. I have an SUV and boy, is it a gas guzzler!

RE: Double-wide combo of mobile and modular
I have no idea how this home is made, but wanted to let you know that there's a home in my area that is made from 2 separate single wides hooked together. They aren't even the same length. But the outside has been sided and it actually looks like a double-wide. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes,...

RE: Central air not working!
No the line is not cold. Can't tell if both motors are running. Model # is 53QA-030KA (2.5 ton) Hubby thinks there's no freon in it. He says the young men who installed it didn't seem to know what they were doing. Do you think that's possible? Could it have leaked out? It was never really cold in h...

RE: Central air not working!
I found the receipt and here's the furnace model #, etc. Intertherm 70,000 BTU Model #MIMB070ABW Serial # MIA051101895 There's nothing about the AC unit except to say it's 2.5 ton. I also can add that the blower has never been very forceful. We often wondered why it was like that because the new un...

Central air not working!
We just turned it on for the first time this year. The unit is running and the furnace is blowing the air, but it's not cool at all. Obviously we are more than a little ticked off. It's barely a year old. Any suggestions? The place that installed it is closed on weekends, so we can't call them yet.

Questions about removing gas heater & grill
We have a heater in our front addition room that we've never used. We want to take it out and utilize the gas for a gas fireplace. We also have a natural gas barbeque grill by the back patio that we don't want. Should we hire someone to remove these items or can hubby do it? Since we are dealing wi...

RE: Some more pics of the siding........
Thank you.
Yes the windows were complete. We bought them at Lowe's and they are Pella Thermastar brand. You have to have 2 x 4 walls in order to use them.

This is the back of the house: http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/36_back_1.jpg These are the awning that used to be over the area where the french doors are! They figured it would be easier to take it off the house than try to work around it. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/36_awni...

12 hours later........
Here's a few more pics. By the way, it took 12 hours, 8 guys, and we only have one side finished! Most of the day was spent taking off the old, putting in new insulation and sheeting. Two other sides are ready for the siding. We aren't doing the front yet since it has that big addition and we are g...

Old siding coming off...........
Well, we've started the process............old siding coming off - new siding going on! The only problem so far is where the current siding and roof meet. The roofing material kind of rolls over the siding. Hubby is cutting it off but it's a slow process. This is one end of the house. The insulatio...

RE: HELP with replacing sliding glass doors with french door
diychickie: We did them ourselves. Well, my hubby, my son, and my son's friend (who does construction work) did it. Of course I don't know what all they had to do to make them fit, but they are wonderful. We are going to get screens for them too so we can open them up and get the fresh air inside. ...
