RE: Mobile Air conditioning/heating units
You would not have to be concerned with the things above with a window unit. However most windows that are in mobile homes are not as strong as site built homes so make sure you use a brace on the outside to support the window unit. good luck

RE: Mobile Air conditioning/heating units
Your main concern with a portable unit is two things and these have to be dealt with when it is in the A/C mode. One is the condensate water (from the humidity in the air) the unit comes with a container that will fill and you may have to empty it often depending on how much condensate is produced i...

RE: Limit Switch?
What is the make and model number of your furnace? Can you give any more information when you say"trying to fire up". If your limit switch is not allowing your furnace to operate this is a safety device and could indicate you have a more serious problem . Anytime a safety device is suspect...

RE: Shut off valve for bathtub
I don't believe I have ever seen a bathtub shutoff in a mobile home or site built house unless an owner specified one during construction or added one. There may be some where a local code requires them. Agree with Gregg if you install one use a quality ball valve.

RE: best way to check heating ducts for clogs
Take the floor grill off each duct and reach down with a digital camera to take a picture down each trunkline if possible. We have a device called a SeaSnake made by Rigid Tool company it has a camera attached to a flexible cable that we use to check walls for electrical and plumbing before we make ...

RE: Nordyne electric furnace
Your upgrade must include 200amp rated wiring from your sub-panel to the outside main panel and also the wiring from that outside main to it's source must be 200amp rated. You may have already factored this in but I've seen a lot of people who just upgrade a panel or go to a larger breaker and never...

RE: pricing on new unit
Pricing on units vary so much throughout the country that the best way to check is get multiple bids. I would recommend staying with a brand like Intertherm (Nordyne) or Coleman (Evcon) that is specifically designed for a mobile home. If you find that the dealers are sticking close to the estimates ...

RE: Matching Roof Shingles
I would still file a claim with your insurance company and have an adjuster come out and look at the roof. You may have a lot more wind damage then you think. It is possible that shingles that appear to be OK and are laying flat have been damaged. You have to take into consideration that to replace ...

RE: Electrical Panel Upgrade
You can ask the park personnel what size Main feeds each house. Typical answer would be 100,150, or 200 amp. This tells you how much amp load is available to you. The only way to tell what your actual load is on each circuit is to have an electrician come out and with a device commonly called an &qu...

RE: Does anyone, anywhere manufacture a QUALITY mobile home?
Greg's advice is very true we have had a Palm Harbor for over thirteen years with very little problems but when we were ordering they presented us with a long upgrade list. This included everything from floors to roofing most of the options we added and the price did escalate but over the years I fe...

RE: filter for A-Coil
I will also add why Roberts idea is better . If you will notice when the a/c is running in the warmer months that there is condensate water running down your A-coil fins into the drain pan. if you lay the filter to close to the coil and obstruct the water flowing down the fins it could reroute the w...

RE: Crossover Duct Replacement question
The 90deg elbows should be adjustable to almost a strait configuration so by turning sections of the elbow you can end up with less then a 90 deg fitting. As a general rule in the hvac industry we try to use the least amount of 90 deg elbows as possible so try and adjust them as best you can to get ...

RE: ??New Thermostat??
Once the house reaches what you believe to be the correct temperature setting on the t-stat move the switch to the (off) position and see how long it takes for the unit to shut off. Do this a few times waiting 5 minutes after it shuts off to set it to heat position again that way you won't short cyc...
