RE: Awning question
I just realized I don't have a photo with the white trim, but it looks exactly like my "goal" photo, except I don't have the shutters yet.

Awning question
OK... I've finished painting (by brush!) 3 coats of a soft lemon yellow and 3 coats primer/white paint on the trim. So I was trying to figure out whether I was going to put white or black shutters on, and I was thinking that I what I really wanted was awnings, because the sun just beats in f...

RE: carpet color idea
I've been toying with the idea of tea staining my beige carpet with a steam cleaner. I did a small test area, but I'm waiting to see if it will hold.

RE: Skirting problems
I had a northern breed that would dig a hole to "den" in. If your dog is doing that in combination with leaning, you can put a small sandbox in and moisten it. They'll dig until they get the back support they like, and then they'll never leave!

RE: Flourescent bulbs
I have heard that statistic about less mercury being used by power plants that offsets the mercury used in the bulbs... and I hope they have gotten better since I bought mine. I'm just saying that if everyone starts using these bulbs, I'll bet that people will not dispose of them correctly for a num...

RE: Flourescent bulbs
Here's from the GE website: • Like paint, batteries, thermostats, and other hazardous household items, CFLs should be disposed of properly. Do not throw CFLs away in your household garbage if better disposal options exist. To find out what to do first check www.earth911.org (where you can find dispo...

RE: Flourescent bulbs
Ooops. I meant LED instead of LCD in the last post. I was getting all hot and bothered during my bulb rant.

Flourescent bulbs
When these first came out, I bought a giant box of them through my electric company. Now* I really hate these things, and I've heard that there's legislation which is pushing to get rid of traditional bulbs entirely. I can only hope that they're replacing them with LCDs.... there's a new nano coatin...

I'll check around. 6* axles would add up to a road trip!

RE: Should I sell my axles?
I just did a google search, and it looks like the going rate for the axles is $75/axle, so not exactly a gold mine!
Really good point about the tires... I'll bet, however, that there's a lot* of tires stored under homes, even if it's not a good idea. What else would you do with them?

Should I sell my axles?
I have axles and a big mess of tires under the mobile home. the guys putting on my skirting were surprised, and said "You've got some money sitting under there". Are they just rusting away under there when they could be used by someone? Will I need them in the future? There sure isn't any ...

RE: Window Washing
I just had the crew that is doing my skirting look at it, and he said it doesn't come apart.... I have to take the whole frame off from the outside. The upper pain of the window moves no more than 1/16 of an inch up, but there's no place it can come into the room. There is a track seemingly all the ...
