Re: Do you like showers or tubs? or both?

CAUTION: If You don't like comedy mixed in with semi-serious comments stop reading this post now,,,,, It does sound like big brother has an intrusive pedantic nose doesn't it! Well big bro can stick his nose into my tub if he wants to but it will probably come out with rust and scale on it! :t...

Re: Ceiling patches

After looking at the most recent pics at Your link I see the walls/trim are already finished. If I was in Your shoes at this point I would probably remove the top trim, remove the ceiling panels, replace with something of similar thickness then replace the trim. After all the walls do look very nice,wh...

Re: Do you like showers or tubs? or both?

Showers work best for Me,I'm way too tall to comfortably sit in the tub of My combo unit, doing so is rare. Most tubs that fit My 6'+ body would probably be too expensive for My tastes. When I'm older I may install a shower with no tub so I don't have to risk stepping over the tub wall to enter/exit. ...

Re: Drywall screws and installation

For 3/8" DW I use 1" or 1 1/4" screws,,for 1/2" DW I use 1 1/4" or 1 5/8" screws,,for 5/8" DW I use 1 5/8" or 2" screws. If there's some reason to use shorter than recommended by area specs then I simply use more.Screw length needs to be increased when go...

Re: I HAVE BOYS!!!!!!

I took a look at Your pic. Do You want to replace the entire jamb and casing or only the doorstop? It would be fairly easy to simply take all the doorstop material off a door and cut/nail something stronger in it's place. When installing doorstop years ago I simply cut it to fit, close the door so th...

Re: Ceiling patches

I think I had sort of assumed it was a drywall ceiling before You revealed it was the long panels.I hope I didn't lead You astray. Depending on the pattern of the panels it might be difficult to match with any drywall product. Depending on what is done already- Could you remove a closet ceiling to g...

Re: Painting the walls

I just skimmed this thread so if something has already been covered please forgive. When painting any *glossy* surface it should be prepped 1st,then primed.Prepping is best done with light sanding using fine grit, just enough to dull the finish, then prime. Without prep work it's like painting glass,m...

Re: Ceiling patches

flcruising; Back in the very late 80s I worked with a contractor that called stipple "stomp texture",I was the guy running a double brush like You mentioned and it was a very messy(for me and the floor)process. He used a texture sprayer to coat with the thin mud,let it sit a short while,th...
