Re: Ignition Issue Coleman Furnace with White-Rodgers Conver
Mornin' Robert, Hi Frank, Your furnace parts list doesn't show any iginitor, spark or otherwise, so unsure what you have or if it is an add on part. That said, it would have to spark over to vicinity (close) of pilot burner to ignite the pilot gas coming out of pilot burner orifice. Then the flame s...

Re: Ignition Issue Coleman Furnace with White-Rodgers Conver
Robert et al, After my post yesterday, I pulled the ignition assembly, i.e., flame sensor, ignitor, pilot light housing etc., in order to clean everything. Being able to look at everything "up close," I'm assuming that spark the ignitor (electrode) jumps to the "housing of the pilot l...

Ignition Issue Coleman Furnace with White-Rodgers Conversion
Robert, et al, Winter's coming (feels like it's here): Last year I started a thread about my pilot not lighting on my Coleman furnace model # 8631-776. I've since got it working (last year) by adjusting the "flame sensor" & igniter." However, in thinking that this year I would eit...

Pilot Won't Light
Hi Robert, Coleman furnace model # 8631-776 has been taking longer and longer to light (last year we had the short cycle problem that you helped so much with); in checking the unit this afternoon, I could hear and physically see the spark; however, it took a long time to light; this evening it would...

Re: Short Cycle on Coleman Furnace - Help!
Mornin' Robert, IT'S FIXED!!! HURRAY!! FYI: My problem began last year with "short cycles." The first thing we did was call the utility company and had them do a free inspection; part of this encompassed cleaning the gas nozzle out with a paperclip (I supplied). Although that didn't cure t...

Re: Short Cycle on Coleman Furnace - Help!
Mornin' Robert, Our problem started out "and remains" short cycles. Initially,. I suspected the fan, and where we left off last year was me removing the fan, cleaning oiling and reinstalling; the fan seems to run more smoothly, and quietly; however, that didn't cure the problem; initially,...

Re: Short Cycle on Coleman Furnace - Help!
Afternoon Robert,
Just a heads-up that I just fired the furnace up for the first time this season, and unfortunately it didn't magically fix itself. The short cycles are about 30 seconds now.
Tomorrow I'm going to proceed with your last instructions.
Thanks,
Frank
