Re: This Caulk Will NOT come off
thanks ! i'll try to find that product. i dont have a heat gun, but thinking maybe a hair dryer would work. It was actually 2 different caulks....I used clear GE silicone caulk on the majority of it..but then i ran out so I switched to clear dupont airtight siliconized acrylic....at which time i rea...

Re: Window Units or Mini-Split?
your problem is more than likely not that difficult to repair, possibly by yourself if you're physically able to get under there. you dont have to be an olympic hopeful to crawl under a mobile home and make some repairs.... get some good lighting under there, not just some puny flashlights. as far a...

This Caulk Will NOT come off
not sure if there is a rule against posting brands, but there is this one silicone caulk that is damned near indestructible. I put this on a section of my roof back in the winter-- I just slathered the mess everywhere....and now I want it OFF. I have tried acetone, paint thinner, tried scraping and ...

Re: Window Units or Mini-Split?
Where did you find that link??? Talk about a lot of information! Greg I know, right? it does have a little bit of everything. Rockncountry, you should make a video of your a/c unit when it makes that noise. it would be preferable if you could video the blower wheel and get a shot of your whole syst...

Re: Window Units or Mini-Split?
have you been under the house and really looked at the system? you say the knocking and popping starts one hour after the a/c kicks off......do you mean one hour after it has been running? ? are there any other noises? what does it sound like when it first turns on ? any noises from your outside uni...

Re: Where to put the downspouts ?
the floor is not particle board, because its very sturdy and thick, and looks like new wood, although its been there since 96. this mh must be pretty tough because in '05 it withstood a hella beating from katrina, and the fact that i'm its owner who did no maintenance since ever. so far i think it o...

Re: Where to put the downspouts ?
no downspouts....wonder where the creators of those little things thought the water would go ? I've managed to get the things patched up to the point that the gutters are no longer siphoning water into the crawlspace by fixing the seams and using makeshift wedges to lift them up. I've also put peel ...

Re: Will removing carpet affect insulation?
I'm no authority on the matter, but i can tell you that I ripped out a section of carpet in my hallway, and I was a little aggressive with it b/c it was so difficult to pull up. when i pulled it out, pieces of clear plastic also came through with it, and i suppose this was some type of vapor barrier...

Where to put the downspouts ?
The MH is a 96 model waverly 16 x 80 that has the typical small gutters, (metal). I don't recall that it ever had downspouts, and I am not sure where to put them. I am going to use small downspouts. the thing is on level ground....and on both ends the roof has a gable shape, so the water comes down ...
