Re: Removing and patching no-longer-used roof vent

Thanks for the replies. Just sealing the vent is not really an option because they hacked up the pipe coming into what is now a new closet. It's got multiple sharp points and edges on the inner and outer tubes and sticks down into the space too far to ignore. Had they cut it into the "attic&quo...

Removing and patching no-longer-used roof vent

We just had our mobile home furnace replaced with an all-in-one outdoor ac/heater unit. The contractor took out the old furnace and covered the connection to the duct underneath but left the roof vent. I am thinking of just using a jig saw to remove the vent and screwing down a piece of suitable met...

Re: Drywall

I am not a mobile home expert, I've lived in one for 20 years (that was 10 years old when we bought it) but it's the only mobile home experience I have. But I always figured that one reason not to tape joints in drywall is that the mud would crack during transportation. I think it is a lot to expect...

Re: Water line diagram

We got up after a sub-zero night last week where we had left the hot and cold water running slowly to no water in the kitchen and thought something was wrong. It turned out to be the sprayer on the faucet had clogged with pieces of rubber from its seal. I guess the 2.97 Walmart sprayer, probably 4 y...

Re: kitchen counter tops

The only problem we had in doing that was that the walls weren't straight, square, or strong enough to make square. We couldn't even use caulking because as we tried to caulk the paneling would give and move. We had to cover the paneling with water resistant dry wall (the green stuff) to get a solid...

Re: Deep cleaning Coleman 7600

I take the lack of response to be a vote for replace instead of fix. :)

Sealing drain after removing tub

In one of our bathrooms, we took out the tub to work on the rotted particle board floor underneath. Since it is just my wife and I, we decided against putting a tub back in and are going to put a linen closet where the tub was. I cut off the water trap and put a PVC cap on the end of the tub drain p...

Re: When do you totally replace a roof?+metal ?

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread but I have a related question. Would it be reasonable to replace the metal roof with a stronger style metal roof? It looks like the sheet metal on the roof is made from long rolled thin sheetmetal. I was wondering if I could put ribbed sheet metal o...

water heater replacement

I have a ton of questions I hope you all don't get tired of them. I'll try to pace them a little. I am looking to replace the 28 year old water heater in my mobile home. In searching for a heater that will fit the space, I find that there are plenty but some are listed as being specifically designed...

Deep cleaning Coleman 7600

I have a 1982 mobile home with a Coleman 7600 heater. I ignorantly didn't know it needed a filter. There was no filter when the company we bought the home from (in 1993) set it all up for us. Surprisingly, it still works after all these years but now I need to do some serious heater and duct cleanin...
