RE: Burglar proofing
Hi flgmtech, so sorry to hear that your home was broken into! Hope they didn't do much damage! No home can ever be totally burglar proof. If they want in, they're gonna get in, whether your home or not. That's a fact! What works for us is a neighborhood watch type of thing. It's not official, but we...

RE: Arsonist Still On The Loose!
LOL Harry, yeah, that no power gets you back to things that you sort of ummmm.. forgot about LOL! The media has cooperated with the police and fire agencies, and have reported very little about any of the fires. They have to announce evactes and such, but they've been playing it down for over a year...

RE: How do you attach a pic on here?
Hey Yanita! Thanks, I hadn't seen the new post. Like I said, I ran away, and am at Tahoe for the next few days.... need time to chill a bit. Taking those deep breaths in the mountain air! depriate4repair, Yanita is right. A modular and a mobile are very different, and in some ways a bit similar. The...

RE: "UPDUX" for evap coolers
I am so grateful that we can use a swamp cooler, instead of central air! We're in an area that we have to use heat 6 months, and some sort of AC the other 6 months! Heat increases our bill to about $500 a month right now, if we use strictly natural gas. I can't imagine paying almost that much for el...

RE: Evap Coolers
Hi Again! I'm on a little mini vacation and just breezing through right now. Like I said, not many here use the swamp coolers! We've got a doublewide, older home, about 1600 sq feet. We upgraded to the Adobe Air a few years back. Love it! Basically, swamp coolers have so few parts, so to speak, that...

RE: "UPDUX" for evap coolers
Hi AlaskanPrincess, Not many of us on the board can use evaporative, or swamp coolers. So you might not get many responses. I'm in N Nevada, and have used the coolers for years! Now, since I have an older mobile, with a flat roof, I've never considered venting it through the roof. But, we do have fr...

RE: Arsonist Still On The Loose!
Hi Harry, Our fire department is only 3 blocks from us. About 5 years ago, the mobile home right next door to the fire station caught fire. It was a total loss! Pretty scary last night. He struck again! This time coming very close to our brand new library. It only burned 3 acres, but that included 4...

I saw that when my power finally came back on this afternoon!
I had heard that the adults had let him stay at camp by himself? I didn't quite understand that at all!
Glad to hear that he was found safe and sound though!

Arsonist Still On The Loose!
It's going to be a very long fire season for us here in N. NV. It seems that the arsonist that was setting fires up until New Years Eve, is still playing. We had another fire yesterday that destroyed at least one home, maybe three. It was located very close to to the custom home we built years ago, ...

Wow Robert! Tell me how you can remember all of that! You're correct... right on the money! My poor old memory needs a boost these days! I remember the post post about the roof rumble... and Mark's response! Ahhhh the old days.. when there were only 10 people posting. But even when I was lurking, I ...

RE: Manufactured home,Mobile Home or Trailer???
Hi Sylvia, Yanita is correct! Actually Trailers, mobiles and manufactured are all the same, no matter what you do them! We all have to remember that trailers are now RV's, motor homes and Toy Haulers these days! LOL! Here's my view on the whole issue really! I've lived in just about everything from ...

RE: Deck, but no footers allowed!
Thanks again Robert for those tips! Yes, all my sheds are tied down, as is the shop (it's a wood type shed). Also my awning is tied down. actually both awnings were tied down, and set in concrete footers. I still have one more footer and tie down to dig up after the snow creamed the carport awning. ...

RE: Ondura roof panels
Hi Curlylocks, I have to agree with JD and Yanita here. You want your roof to last a really long time! We had ours done years ago in a metal metal roof over. JD has excellent photos of this type of roof on his website. Mark also has an article of it done as a DIY project. Ours has been on the house ...

RE: bath tub popping
Hi Homebuff,
Welcome back!
Refresh my poor old memory please. Did you already replace the floor under the tub? Or did you just replace the tub itself?
Personally, the best way to approach this would be to take the tub out, if you can and then replace the foam.

RE: doorway question
Hi Brad, It wasn't that bad of a job at all compared to subfloors! We did like Greg mentioned and opened up the inside walls. We shut the power off, since we need to move a junction box for a light switch over a few inches. We removed one stud to widen the door using a recip saw, then used the recip...
