RE: How safe is it to store items in the belly of the beast?

I'm not a fan of storing things under your home either! Mark gave you the repairman's view about stuff under the home. Here's a DIY homeowners view. If a pipe leaks, and they do from time to time, you'll have to remove many wet boxes and stuff to get to the leak. That's even before you take on getti...

RE: Hot August Nights and Changing Times!

Thanks guys! Both Lynnie and hvac! Yes hvac, most of my life has been placed God's hands, with a lot of prayer! I also know that God doesn't take anyone before there time here on earth. Lynnie, I'm not sure if I'd know how to get out of bed without my robe LOL! I've had nothing but males in the hous...

RE: How Does One Caulk So It Looks O.K.?

LOL! I have to agree with Yanita, I do it the same way, but licking the fingers is a guy thing! I use a wet paper towel to wet my finger with... same effect, but I'm not tasting caulk for the next day or two. The real key to caulking is what Yanita mentioned, cutting the tip at the precise size tip....

Hi fishboy, Now, I'm laughing with you, not at you! The first garbage disposal we had to replace Warren decided that he could do it, no problem! Ryan was about 3 at the time. I was out of town. He decided to change out the faucet that was horrible at the same time. By the time I got home, the kitche...

RE: J.B Weld fixed my screens.

Hi busybee, I used the method that Lorne mentioned years ago on our home! Our screens were useless when we moved in here! Back then, the kits, plus screen cost me about $8.00 a piece. They are still in place and working well! All you need is a miter box, a hack saw and the kit! If you haven't replac...

RE: Interior wall insulation?

LOL! Our master bedroom is right next door to Ryan's bedroom. When we first moved in, Ryan was in grade school. He used to complain that his dad left the TV on late at night, causing him little sleep. Once he starting working in high school, he went out and bout himself a new TV, surround sound and ...

RE: Rectangular panel outside under each window?

Hi Lorne, I have to ask, are you sure that the vinyl siding is original? I only ask because the 80's were during the time we went from metal to wood like siding and then into vinyl. When I say 'we' I mean us lucky mobile home owners! You may be absolutely correct as to the vinyl siding. I have these...

RE: Does "as is" really exist?

Here's my take on As Is as far as a mobile home goes........ If the AC wasn't working when it was sold, oh well. It was sold as is. That is part of the home and surely wasn't damaged in transit. I might give them the broken window in the fix it list, but nothing more. It's like gimme a break!!! As i...

RE: Concrete counter tops

Hey Yanita, and anyone else out there looking for solid counter tops. I finally remembered the name of the place that does the granite overlays, and I have the website. Now, this certainly isn't on the cheap by any means! It is a granite over lay. But from what the commercials on TV mention, it is l...

Hi Frye! Welcome to the forum!

One more tip, once you rid the home of the critter down under, make suer that your skirting is also intact and sealed up good! If your skirting isn't in perfect condition, nothing you do will keep the critters out!

RE: "Flipping Mobile Homes"

Hey Yanita! That's how we got this place! Our former landlord was into flipping mobiles. He was so proud of himself when he sold us our home at $80K, that's home, property and outbuildings, we have 2 sheds and one shop with power, phone, cable. etc. He got too anxious and didn't do his home work. Wh...

RE: Concrete counter tops

Hey Yanita, I don't have much time left tonight to go into detail, but I have thought of the concrete counter tops also. The problem is that even though our homes are on permanent foundations, they still move. Concrete is very unforgiving, just look at 10 year old sidewalks these days! I know it's a...

RE: Walking on roof

Hi wislndixie, Aluminum, metal, all the same thing. If it isn't a composite or shingled roof, you need to use care up on your roof. I won't let anyone over a certain weight on my roof, and I have a roof over. But the trusses are what they are! We're fairly small here in our family. Except our adopte...
