Round bathroom vent fan finally installed.
A long time ago I think I posted about replacing this fan. Well, I finally got it done, but what a job. The previous owner had some HACK to the job and installed a squirrel cage fan and motor which ended up blowing air back into the bathroom and he butchered the inside of the can so bad that I could...

Big tree on rental property-who is resposable?
We have a gigantic Hickory just inches from our roof line and if it were to fall during a hurricane it could very well take out one or more houses next to us, or even ours for that matter. Since we own the house, but rent the space, who would be responsible if it were to fall? :( From what I...

Re: reputable A/C filter suppliers
I usually get mine and ones for some of my customers from Amazon.com. I found deals for 2 packs of filters for $40 and under shipped. Never had any issues with them and Amazon.com is really good about returning products or dealing with problems. Yes, I found them at Amazon for $21 and Lowes for $25...

Re: Blower blower out to side vice down
I had that problem years ago. Below the furnace where the air enters the ducts there is a tin, wedged shaped deflector that sends the air to either side of the ducting so the air is more evenly distributed throughout the house. In my case it had come loose and was blocking at least half of the air l...

Re: reputable A/C filter suppliers
How does a filter of that thickness install, and where? Outside there is a tin enclosure (plenum) between the house and the A/C unit. You open it up and the filter slides in. https://www.acwholesalers.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/goodman_pdf/GPH13-15/13/Installation_Instructions.pdf page 4 shows th...

reputable A/C filter suppliers
Wondering if anyone can suggest an online vendor for A/C filters 20x25x5 for a Goodman Packaged Unit? I see many vendors, but some are more reliable then others. The A/C service man said his company charges $90 for one and online they are around $45 for 2 incl shipping. Who ever said there was no mo...

Re: Evaporative Cooler
Only if you live in a super dry area like the desert or Reno, Las Vegas etc. There is also the consideration of mold buildup in the ducting from the added moisture. In Nevada we had an evaporative cooler on the roof that blew straight in with no long dict work and let me tell you that if could freez...

Re: trimming edge of fiber glass entry door?
Did you use shims to install the jamb on the strike side? It's possible that you snugged them up just a tad too much. If only one portion of the door is hitting, you may need to pull the casing and use less shim there. Also, depending on the reveal around the jamb/stop where the weatherstripping is...

trimming edge of fiber glass entry door?
Last year, during cold weather, I installed an exterior pre-framed fiberglass door, which turned out great. As soon as the humid summer weather hit the frame expanded and the door scrapes half way up from the latch area. As soon as this winter hit and the humidity dropped it closes great. Can I trim...
