Thanks.

RE: What is behind this trim?

You are all right. I need to pull some apart to actually what I'm dealing with. If there is any rot I just have to replace the bad sections. Thanks for all your suggestions. The window and wall right below this was all rotted away and had to be rebuilt and the water came off the roof at this point, ...

What is behind this trim?

Image

What would be behind the white, tin roof edge trim, besides rot.

Solid wood of some type that is nailed to the roof joists?

I want to put up rain gutters and need an idea what is behind.

RE: Rusty I-Beams........ What To Do???

I would suspect that the rust is only surface rust. Not as in rusted through. Ours is 21 years old and 2 miles from the ocean and I have not seen dangerous rust. There are things you can paint over rust that turns it gray and it becomes a primer, but I would say that it's not that bad. If you can sc...

RE: frozen water pipes

As soon as they're thawed run to home depot or lowes and get some insulating wrap or foam pie covers. Maybe an electric heat cord to wrap around them. All depends on how they are routed under the house. Are they visible or are they up over your bell insulation? Keep a little dribble going from each ...

Window Sill Rot

Yes friend I have the rot. I have a new piece of the vertical trim but the Sill is the problem. Can I buy just the whole sill, saw out the old one and nail in the new or should I try to chop out only the rot and cut a chunk to blend in. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/716_House_painting_01...

RE: Sewer line, roots?

The Plumbers compound mat be Copper Sulfide and it may be cheaper to buy it under it's regular name. I'll try it. The other thing is a snake. I'll get one of those too. I am also checking with some handy men in the area. I read many complaints about Roto Rooter not giving estimates and jusy piling o...

Sewer line, roots?

A toilet at the NW end of the house has been very slow to flush, even after repeated plunging. This end of the house has tons of thin, wire-like roots that are as strong as steel. I discovered these while digging for the skirting channels. I can't get close enough to the sewer line to eyeball it. I ...

Good one. Sounds really stable.
Just saw you're in Weeds.port. We spent a month there in the Riverforrest Park right on the river when it rained so hard everything started to floor. Great place.

RE: Skirting bottom "F" channel

I think the 2x4 idea is probably the best in our case. Now if I can just kill all the tiny roots that are everywhere when I dig. They are as strong as wire. This are is mostly sand mixed with dirt and it's like working in a litter box and over 20 years things have shifted. Spikes into sand are not t...

Skirting bottom "F" channel

Do you think that 7" to 9" Roofing Starter Strip under the "F" channel is the best idea to keep grass and roots from growing up along the skirting. I am having to dig down almost 6 inches in some places to find the bottom channel. I am replacing it with a better quality channel. ...

My vote is for Kilz2 also. Be sure it is Kilz2 and not plain Kilz.

I have been undercoating vinyl siding and after I let it cure real good it is there to stay. i t is even hard to remove from the sink when it drys.

RE: Heat duct damper tapping when running?

http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/716_XELICDMP_lg1_1.jpg ain't this a beauty? There were two of these Flipen Flappers left over from the old upright Coleman heater that came with the house 21 years ago. They would squeek from the rusty hinges and tip as they opened and closed. Now I have a ...

RE: Heat duct damper tapping when running?

Good idea. Because of the more powerful air flow with the new system something may be flaping that wasn't effected with the weaker flow.
We'll see today.
Thanks.
