RE: Heat duct damper tapping when running?

Well, lets see her. The A/C and heat are outside 3 ton unit. Goodman. The tapping sound is comming from only 1/2 the house and ONLY hear from the middle to one end. Myself it doesn't bother but the wife has hearing like a cat. The taping is not steady. It has and uneven beat. This is why I thought o...

RE: Heat duct damper tapping when running?

When they installed the new, more powerful unit they also increased the size of the return air intake in the floor. it is now TWICE the size. It really sucks. I just put a rug over 1/2 of the intake and the tapping stopped. So I figure that the flapper was intended for the old, smaller unit OR the o...

Heat duct damper tapping when running?

The wife complains of this sound from the ducts. It's a tapping ,rapping and sometimes squeaking sound. The old system probably need this damper to equalize the air flow or something, but this new Heat Pump has a hurricane of air blowing out and I think the little damper isn't needed. We now have eq...

Wiring nail guards

My siding has no sheathing. There are studs with metal nail guards where they never nailed the siding down in many places. Accept for toe nailing at the edge of the stud where the metal plate is, is there any other thing I can try? Rough when there are 4 studs in a row with nothing to nail the sidin...

Wind blow out

My neighbor has skirting that is about 36 inches tall and at some places it blows out in high winds. The Top front rail only covers about 1/2-1 inch in some places. Would wind rods be long enough? The only other idea was to raise the bottom channel at the ground, but that would be a job. Or better y...

I have the same windows. The inside brown storms and the outside aluminum. The inside frame has the slightly raised screw heads. Yanita has the right idea, but I thought that once you have measured for each molding and cut the mitered joint, use a lipstick to mark the screw heads, press the piece of...

RE: Merry Christmas

Ditto. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to each and everyone here. This has to be the friendliest one on the Internet. Most are so big with so many different issues that one feels a little lost in the crowd. You folks are like neighbors that you can almost reach out and touch. http://mobilehomer...

RE: Wood Panel under windows

Thanks for the thought.
I am going to experiment on the rear of the house first in case I screw up.
Why they ever thought that this trim was necessary is a mystery. I'll post a picture when I finish.
Now it's raining. Miller time I guess.

Wood Panel under windows

http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/716_Wed_102407_017_1.jpg Looks like the panel is made up of 4 strips of molding like a picture frame and then nailed and screwed to a plywood panel. After 21 years of rain dripping on them the only thing holding them together is the paint when you get a clo...

Bulges in Siding Panels?

I have some areas on my siding that are "Bulging", like they were never nailed. Well, yesterday I attacked one area that was driving me nuts. Stood out like a sore thumb. After some tugging and a small split in one end I was able to pop out the 5 ft section. Since there was never any under...

clutch head screws Originated by United Screw and Bolt. The recess in clutch heads looks like a bowtie. In a pinch, a clutch head screw can be driven by a slotted screwdriver. A worn tip on a driver can easily be restored by grinding off the end. Clutch head screws were popular in mobile home constr...
