New Heat Punp Update
Just got our electric bill and it is $88 with the new unit. The last bill was $133. Since the really cold weather set in just a couple of days ago we'll have to wait another month to get a better average of the costs. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/716_New_AC_Red_Cat_and_Bugs_045_2.jpg My...

1/4 hp motor-watt draw
Any idea how much current a 1/4 hp squirrel cage blower in our heat pump would use? Before we got this new 3 ton unit we ran the system blower almost 24/7, because the wife wanted the air circulating. I explained that it used up Kwh of electricity, but couldn't tell her exactly how much. Is there a ...

RE: Heat Pump going in as I type
The original price quote was $8300 with $1000 off for the advertised special then another $1000 off for our 2 year old unit in trade [looked like new] This set us back $6300 in the end, which included: 5 yr labor and 5 yr parts warranty. free cleaning and filters once a year. All these guys new thei...

RE: Heat Pump going in as I type
They cleaned them today. They hooked up the vacuum sucker outside to the main system duck. Blocked off each inside vent and one by one used compressed air to dislodge any stuff. They also used a camera to see down the ducts, but saw practically nothing. They also crawled underneath to inspect the du...

RE: Heat Pump going in as I type
sure will. They said they use a camera that goes inside the ducts first that shows the condition and search for "stuff", then they clean and sanitize. With more then double the air output from the registers, my wife hears a "ticking" from the vents. It's probably "stuff"...

RE: Heat Pump going in as I type
9am to 2pm without a break and it is in. a/c turns out a ton of water and BLOWS so hard compared to the old unit. Has an outrigger filter that is 25 inches square and 5 inches deep built on the rear of the unit. It says to change once a year and no inside return air filter is needed. I love the talk...

Heat Pump going in as I type
It's Christmas in our house today. One-Hour is installing our new heat pump a week earlier then we anticipated. These guys put on plastic "Booties" each and every time they come inside. They don't even take breaks. Old Return air duct was only 12" in diameter and the new on is 13"...

No electric heat continued.
Robert was right. The unit DID have a bad sequencer. Once replaced the heat worked fine. The bad news is that I broke down, called a HVAC company [One Hour] and ordered a New Goodman 3 ton SEER 13 Heat Pump w/ electric back up heat strips. Come to find out that the air return duck is too small for t...

RE: Speaking Of Windows-Plexiglass?
I replaced a lower class of a double hung window with a 20 x 30 inch piece of Plexiglas, Glazers Points and putty. The window lasted over 20 years before I shoved a couch into it. It is now very much lighter to lift because of the weight difference. If you clean it you might check into a specific cl...

Robert.
You said, "You must receive full power from t-stat 24vac signal in order for sequencer to work properly".
Should I investigate the T-stat with a VOM first?

Block Piers under house and weight
Is it normal to pour concrete footing before stacking up the concrete blocks. Our doublewide has piers made up of 4 standard blocks in stacks arranged in a square at each support location. I can't get under to look closely. this is sandy soil and I was just wondering about footings. The house in ver...

Heat pump quote
Had a quote of "around" $4000 for a Packaged Goodman SEER 13, 3 ton heat pump installed on a concrete pad [needs to be poured] and a new stat on inside wall. [not outside wall where it is now]. I saw some on-line that ran around $2000, but there would be installation labor plus shipping. D...

RE: Poor electric heat
Thanks Robert. Yes, it is a Packaged straight a/c with electric heat. Some bad elements,That's what it feels like. Got to call the man again. Luckily I bought a little ceramic heater made by Pelonis from ACE Hardware. Pelonis got good ratings. It will warm a room 12 X 28 ft just fine. As soon as the...
