Maybe, just maybe, he has had problems getting his full payment from other jobs in the MH repairs, but doesn't want to insult you by fully explaining.
There are a lot of deadbeats around, both on the contractor side and customers.
You sound like the good folks. This is a hard one to decide on.

Re: Installing new bathroom ceiling fan
I'll get some pictures as soon as I can. Getting two arms up inside the 8" diameter hole will be a challenge. Like Microsurgery through a little incision. This old fan is around 20 years old as far as I can see and most of the air blows out the sides of the vent. May not even be connected to an...

Installing new bathroom ceiling fan
These fans are of course round and the tin can goes up into the ceiling, then into a flexible foil hose connected to the roof vent. Like dryer vent hose. How does one get the round can into the foil hose without hands on the attic side? Do you just hope the can goes up inside the foil tube when you ...

Re: Exterior Paint
I read this on "Ask the builder.com" on using metal primer first.
http://www.askthebuilder.com/122_How_to ... ding.shtml
I used Valspar 100% Latex over Vinyl with a primer and it worked great.

new to Nail Gun update......
I Got a 16Ga "Shop Fox" model #W1777 finish nailer at a local Tool Store for $99.00. I had a small compressor and 100 feet of hose already from Sears. Pumped it up to 100lbs. Might need a little more, but max on the gun is 100lbs. Tried it our on scrap nailing through 3/4" plywood plu...

Re: stupid question possibly
With ours we have a title (it's paid for) like a car. We pay for a tax sticker for the window showing we paid our county/state taxes. also a lot rent because it's in a park. If you have your own piece of land there is no rent, maybe just a mortgage. Since you can conceivably put the transport wheels...

Removing a Wall Socket
I recently had a section of outside wall replaced and drywall replaced the old wood paneling. In preparation for the carpenters I removed the wall socket and wood paneling. Yuk. The wall socket had a screw in the top right and lower left corner, visible after removing the cover plate. Using my trust...

Re: Replacement windows: Lowes, Home Depot or Window World?
I went with Home Depot and they work well and under $200 each. My problem is that the vinyl siding is a style that is hard to find after 21 years, so each window has to be the same size OR a little bigger, so no extra siding is needed. Each window install required a new section of wall due to rim jo...

Re: New to me Nail Gun, which nail brands?
Brenda, don't feel bad cause we've all done stuff like that once in a while. Greg, I agree with your suggestion. I spend a long while researching nails and nailers today and found that there are so many brands being sold out there and few mention the nails they use except for the higher priced guns ...

New to me Nail Gun, which nail brands?
I finally broke down and got a Shop Fox 16Ga ,1-1/4" to 2-1/2"nail gun at the local tool store. There are so many different brands though. I see some brands require they're own special brand of nails. This nail gun doesn't mention brand of nails anywhere in the manual. I searched the inter...

Re: FailSafe Brand Pex Fittings OK?
So many things are made in China today it's almost the norm.
If you're unsure about the MH store brand I would check Home Depot or Lowes.
That's where I got my PEX Shark Bite Pex fittings and they're great.
Also maybe cheaper at the Big Box stores.

Powertex texture gun by Wagner
works pretty well. http://www.wagnerspraytech.com/portal/texture_sprayers_spray,99561,747.html Just follow the directions. When they say "Pancake Batter" consistency they don't mean real runny. I'm waiting for the splatter to harden a little, then I'll do the Knockdown. It's really humid d...

Re: Wall outlet wiring
Many of my sockets were mounted in thin paneling and NOT even near studs. Every time you plug or unplug something the whole section of wall flexes, but what the heck, the house was cheap enough and I just love fixing things. DUHHHHHHH. Just thought of something. I could silicone the socket into the ...

Wall outlet wiring
DSCF4666 (Small).JPG I just check photos I took when the guy was replacing the rotted wall and installed new windows. Now I know why there was a BULGE in the drywall at the stud seam. Wallboard screwed over wire trapped against the stud. Can you believe someone would do this. Next time I do the dry...
