Re: Vapor barrier under Floating Flooring?
Yeah, 1/4" OSB on top of 2x8 which were the original porch floor until he decided to enclose it. It feels really solid when walked on. I'm going to drop 1/2" ply over top of it before the Pergo.
Seems he built things with what he could find. An odd door here and an odd window there.

Vapor barrier under Floating Flooring?
Our sun porch apparently was begun as an "open" outdoor porch with 2x8's laid horizontally to the lengthwise floor joists. It is 28x10. When it was decided to make it an "Indoor" fully enclosed porch, 9 standard windows and 1/4" OSB flooring were installed. No insulation is ...

Re: Vapor barrior behind drywall or not? UPDATE
Well, the new wall is in and dry walled along with 2 new construction windows and Tyvek. "Andy Oncall" did the work, with my assistance. Half the price of the other bedroom wall and window replacement. Very pleased with their work. Thanks for the assistance. A side note: If you hire someon...

Check out Mod Poge.

It might be just what you're looking for, just using it on a larger scale.
I used to sell it in a craft store many years ago.

Re: Ripping out an exterior wall
Last year they replaced a 12 foot section of outside wall in a bedroom and did not add any temporary supports and had no problems. These were of course 2x4 exterior studs, not 2x3's. Starting tomorrow they are replacing a second bedroom outside wall in the same way. Extensive rotted floor joist ends...

Vapor barrior behind drywall or not?
I may have asked this before, not sure. In replacing rotten wall studs and rim joist and sistering a couple of floor joists in bedroom and installing 2 new styled windows. The wall in presently paneled. There is no exterior sheathing or barrier, only vinyl siding and some insulation between us and t...

Installing 2 exterior doors
We have a sun room with a front and rear door. The doors are mobile home style storm doors with vertical sliding glass in the bottom half, not standard exterior doors. For added security we want to add standard doors and maybe use the existing doors as storm doors if room permits. Question; Would a ...

Re: true hard wood flooring vs laminate
As to the bathroom grab bars, I installed one on either side of the shower just at the edge but not in the shower. Mine are 1 1/2 diameter and 24 inch high. Since I rebuilt the wall from scratch I doubled the 2x4 studs at the level where the grab bars would go, therefore assuring that the three 3&qu...

Make your AC cooler
On those 100 plus degree days the AC Compressor works a lot harder the hotter it gets, so here is an idea, though I haven't tried this on our home AC unit YET. If your AC is in the sun during the hottest part of the day get a "mister hose", wrap it around the outside unit so it sprays on t...

You say "Main Waterline", but it looks more like a "Waste Hose and NOT a potable line.
