I was reading that ice dams are caused by heat escaping through the ceiling.
Could I use some type of vapor barrier paint on the ceiling to hold the heat in better?
Thanks so much for all your help.

RE: Question on my roof
Hello again
Had something strange happen. The ice on my roof melted and fell off. The leak I mentioned before didn't leak. Anybody know why it didn't leak with the warm weather? Maybe condensation??
Thank you for your help

RE: Question on my roof
Thanks for your help guys. I'll take a look at those products too. Got a couple more questions. I'm assuming it's safe to walk on the roof? I'm about 185 I was reading trisodium phosphate was a good cleaner for removing dirt and grime. Is this safe for metal roofs? Thank you for your help :)

Question on my roof
Hello everyone My roof has a minor leak. The leak is coming from the kitchen sink sewer vent. I have a pail under the vent now. The whole roof has ice build up on it, icicles too. The bathroom exhaust fan has caused about a 4 inch in round ice formation down the siding where the bathroom is and bath...

Need advice on subfloor
I've just noticed there's a soft spot on my floor around my front door. Would using a circular saw be the best way for cutting the rotten wood out and do you think a reciprocating saw may be helpful for this project in any way? I was thinking of using a stud finder for locating the floor joist. I re...

RE: window frame question
Hi everyone Just have one more question and that should do it. Once I get the rotted wall stud out thats part of the window frame what would be the best way to nail/screw the new stud in? Would wood joiners work? If the metal siding is screwed into the wall stud would I have to do anything with the ...

RE: window frame question
Thanks
So I'll use 2x4's then. Will they have too be planed or anything like that?
I think the paneling may be glued in some areas. How is the best way to remove it without much damage? I will replace the bad stuff but some of it's in really good shape.
Thanks
Brad

RE: window frame question
Hi everyone I partially opened the paneling. The studs around the window frame are 1-1/2 in thick and 3-3/8 wide. Could I substitute them with 2 x3's? If I did that would it change how the paneling or window fits ? What are your opinions? The window has arrived and the panel isn't in the best shape ...

RE: window frame question
Thanks everyone
I think I'll just remove the paneling and see whats really back there before I buy any wood. It probably won't be for a while still waiting on the window to arrive.
