Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape

Your GFI is probably an outlet in one of the bathrooms, or by the kitchen sink. There is a possibility that it is a breaker in your panel box, which should be labelled as such. Calderhill, my supply pipe runs above ground from the park connection about 12 feet to the inlet, under the water heater. M...

Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape

It can be a real bear to protect those lines under the water heater. We had an insulated box built around the area where the supply line came in, which was also under the tank. They attached the wooden box to the floor joists, and covered it with foam sheets. There is access provided by unscrewing o...

I have a M3RL, and there is no cap on the exhaust. The intake has 2 elbows.

Re: Plastic or Metal?

Another vote for the crimper. I use the type with the cinch clamps. I have never had good luck with the gator fittings, and I would not trust them in an area that will not see regular access, a tiny drip can quickly add up to major damage.

Re: Fireplace. Gas or Wood burnig?

My opinion, gas. With wood, you will lose most of your heat up the chimney. With gas, you'll likely need just a small vent to the outside.

That should work fine. Some glue on the mating surfaces wouldn't hurt.

Re: Shower Window Trim Ideas

Home centers have PVC boards, maybe you could use that with caulking to seal.

Re: Eaves from factory?

That looks like a very nice spot. I wouldn't worry about the porch, as it has been there so long without problems. What you should do is make sure water can't get between the ledger and rim joist. It can rot out easily there.

Re: Eaves from factory?

You for sure have had lots of condensation buildup on the underside of the roof. You already know that you need to install proper venting asap. It would be best to properly install soffit vents with a ridge vent, or at least vents high up on the roof. If you can, remove the bathroom vents from the r...

Re: Question on mice

I'd assume they will chew through PEX. I had to replace a section of PB under the floor because it was gnawed through.
I haven't had a problem since placing several bait stations inside the skirting.

You will need windows in each bedroom large enough for emergency egress.

Re: Water Heater Help

There should be a gas shut off near the water heater; just turn that off, or turn the temp control on the heater to off. There's no need to turn off the gas or water to the whole home. If you have a separate water shut off to the wh, you can turn that off if the leak is bad enough.

Re: Anti Freeze V.S. Windshield washer fluid.

Wait -- are you talking about drain or supply lines? I think ww fluid contains alcohol. If so, the alcohol will rapidly evaporate, and then you have just colored water. I'll have to look at a jug of it tomorrow to be sure. Also, I'm pretty sure it is toxic. If so, you do not want it in the supply si...

Re: skirting

You mention an a/c vent; do you mean the condensation drip line? That should go outside. Make sure the dryer vent is outside the skirting also.
