Re: Vented Soffits
If you have cathedral ceilings throughout, there's probably no clear space for ventilation. I have cathedral in the middle, with flat ceilings at each end. Over them, there is a small attic area, which has gable vents. I am going to see if there is any clear space at the soffit area to add vents. Th...

Re: Finding information on MH
Look by the electrical box or inside a closet to find the manufacturers info sticker. Of course, it may be long gone.

Re: Underbelly DIY Cleanup
The belly material is necessary to hold the insulation under the floor. Without it, the floors will be cold(er), and the water lines will be more likely to freeze. The water lines are usually run near the heat ducts to keep them warm enough in winter. You cannot just seal the skirting, because you t...

Re: Big tree on rental property-who is resposable?
Our lease specifies that all trees and bushes are the landlord's property, and if we plant any, they become his property.

Re: Need help identifying 1990 Nordyne central A/C
I have a similar unit, and all I can say is that in 25 years, I have spent exactly $0.00 on repairs. A new unit would be more energy efficient, but this unit only raises my electric bill by about $40 a month during the summer, so there's an awful long time required to recoup the cost of a new unit b...

Re: shower arm replacement
You will probably gave to remove the wall panel in the room behind the shower. Removing the surround will do no good. The white ring holds the shower arm from coming through the wall, but the leak is probably in the screw on hose connection inside the wall cavity, behind the ring.

I have had one of those Miller units for 23 years, and have done nothing to it other than an annual cleaning. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Ventilation Problem!
Since you say this vent is near your chimney, I bet it is an air intake, either plumbed directly into the furnace, or into the furnace enclosure. My home had an intake that went into the return air area of the furnace to bring in outside air, **as if the window leaks didn't supply enough fresh air, ...

Re: Moisture Problems
Generally, a wet spot on the belly would be a water leak, however, since you indicate that you have insulated skirting with no ventilation, and the dryer apparently venting into the crawl space also, you may be correct that it is just condensation. Does the belly wrap sag down, indicating a pool of ...

I'd think 6" would be good, and the aluminum wouldn't hurt. Maybe put the aluminum with about 1" sticking out of the ground on the inside of the skirting and bend it over the edge of the bottom rail?
