Re: Uninsulated stove vent
There should be a flapper right above the fan in the hood to block off most of the air, though I have the same type of arrangement on my single wide, and have never felt any down flow of air through it.

Re: Painting interior walls
Not on mine. They have a couple clips on the center bar that pop off and release the top pane.

Re: Painting interior walls
I have the type of windows that have the metal frame screwed to the interior wall surface. I removed the screws and replaced with drywall screws to have a more flush surface to work with. After cutting the molding to fit, I ran two beads of caulk around the window, one on the metal flange, and one o...

Re: Washing maching shaking house
I had a problem with shaking with my standard units. I added one pier under the laundry room (and when I looked at how the installers had done my other piers, also I added a pier in between each of the ones they did.) The place doesn't shake any more. That was 23 years ago.

Re: Intertherm MAC 1199 Gas Furnace
I'm no furnace expert, but we solved an identical problem with our gas hot water tank by extending the length of our exhaust stack by 2-3 feet. The problem was wind swirling around the roof peak and down the chimney. Hopefully you do not have a crack in your heat exchanger.
