water damage, floor, wall and subfloor
Hi, We have a 1978 doublewide Fleetwood. There's been a leak under the kitchen sink that's put a fair amount of water under the cabinet and wall. By coincidence we're replacing the siding so we have the outside wall opened up. There's a 1x4 sill plate under the framing that we've taken out to replac...

insulating crawl space skirting
Hi, I'm hesitating on the issue of insulating the crawl space on a 1989 double wide Fleetwood. I've read the "better skirting idea" article and I like the idea of insulating. I've read quite a bit on the 'net about insulating crawl spaces and most sources recommend an unvented crawl space....

Re: plumbing vents
Thanks so much for the help! I finally got around to further investigation after a pause for some painting and electrical. Unscrewing the check valves helped some so I will be replacing them. I think some snaking might be in order too. Again, thank-you!

plumbing vents
Hi, I'm having some trouble with the drains in a 1989 doublewide Fleetwood that we just bought. Poking around my plumbing and this forum I've found that all the sinks have the vents/checkvalves under the sink. There are two vents through the roof for each of the two bathrooms (sink and shower?). I h...

Re: age of furnace
Hi Robert, Thanks so much! It does look pretty new. It also seems to sell very cheaply from what I can tell. Does that say anything about it's quality and probable longevity, or is it just a small, basic machine? Also, we've had one furnace installer tell us that one half of the furnace has been dis...

age of furnace
Hi, we just bought a double wide and we're trying to decide whether to put in a ducted heat pump system. Is there any way to tell the age of the existing furnace?

taping joints at the ceiling
Hi, We recently bought a double wide on a tie down foundation that we're fixing up. Most of the rooms have drywall that's been mudded and taped, but not sure if that's original. We've read that when installing flooring it's important to allow space at the edges for expansion and contraction of the h...
