Yep, as long as it is remarked and correct AWG wire, it is perfectly fine and is done often.

I mostly use red permanent marker, tape can come loose, but have used tape as well.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

NEC says it is OK. All you have to do is re identify the wire and they did that with red tape.

Furnace wiring question

Installed a Coleman 17kw furnace in a friends mfg home and have a wiring question. Don't know when the home was built but was surprised to see they had used 10-3 romex on the previous furnace(30 amp) and had wrapped the neutral with red tape. It was being used as a hot conductor. Looked in the panel...

If you have a mobile home you have to use a furnace rated for use in a mobile home. To the best of my knowledge Rudd/Rhem does not make a furnace listed for use in a mobile home. there will be a tag in the door of the furnace and if it does not specifically say mobile home you cannot use it by law. ...

Ok Thanks! In fact the first winter after our home was set up, we had the heating guy come out 3 times to replace a pressure switch that kept failing. We also found the infamous blinking 4-times light that meant the upper limit was reached. He found the problem - we got an upgraded furnace with the ...

Usually in a standard stick built home the code requires combustion air in a closed closet. Sometimes they will bring it in from outside and sometimes they will allow you to cut a small register in the supply duct in the closet with an allowance that most homes leak enough air to make up the forced ...

Heat vent in a furnace room - open or close

We have our furnace in a closet in the laundry room. There is a heat vent on the opposite side, next to the back door. Even with the vent closed, this room stays warm. I was told by a heating guy that had to fix my furnace that all vents should stay open. I asked him why this one - I'd rather the he...

Flame sensor or ignitor should do the trick. You might consider cleaning the sensor with a little steel wool.

Goodman furnace - flame slow to come on

Thermostat calls for heat, a small blower comes on in the unit, flame doesn't always ignite, and when it doesn't the little blower stays on. Sometimes it takes 15, 20 minutes until the flame finally comes on.

Oh yes, sometimes that blower does not shut off after cycle for abount 5 minutes.
