Re: Relevel
Just a thought or three: Mobile or Manufactured homes are built on a chassis which is basically a trailer. Take a look at some of the heavy automotive shops since they handle commercial trailers on a regular basis and may already have the jacking plates you need, or at least a ready source of supply...

Re: Anybody good with CPU tweaking?
You will often find that "branded" computers, like HP, Dell, Gateway, etc., will do a bulk purchase of motherboards - I'm talking in the thousands here. In exchange for that they get to make modifications to the motherboard design, including the BIOS. Most of these changes are so they can ...

Re: M1GB 056A BW Furnace/AC unit leaking water
I'm not too sure on the Nordyne units as to how they are put together, my suggestion above comes from general knowledge - perhaps one of the regular HVAC guys might be able to help with the makeup and position of the condensation collection system. My own home has an Intertherm, with separate top (f...

Re: Mold in bath ceiling
Hi Ladybug, I did read your post, but it won't be as costly as you think. You don't need to replace the entire wall/ceiling, just the affected parts. So for example it the mold comes about 2 feet down the wall, you would simply remove the 2 feet of affected wall, wide enough to uncover parts of the ...

Re: M1GB 056A BW Furnace/AC unit leaking water
Quickest way to check would be to pour water into the tray at the top and see how fast it comes out the bottom (if at all). Check the tray for corrosion as well, just in case!

Re: Need help replacing bath/shower fixtures
Just a quick note to apologize - the remark about the transient was well intentioned, but I didn't take into account the OPs position, and I'm sorry about that. I have edited my above post to reflect a more restrained, but still workable suggestion that may help. Of course, I would never suggest pic...

Re: M1GB 056A BW Furnace/AC unit leaking water
Unless your furnace is heating your water as well, then it is much more likely what you are seeing is the condensation from the AC unit. Normally, there is a tray under the unit which catches the condensation as it falls and channels it into a drain line which leads it out from under the home. It is...

Re: Mold in bath ceiling
I would agree with bobfather99 in cutting the molded sections out and replacing them. Even if you dry out the areas and remove the visible signs, as the mold dries it will release spores into the air making for a nasty heath hazard.

Re: Need help replacing bath/shower fixtures
Before you go hiring a plumber or a handyman .... You don't need them, all you need is some muscle that can apply their strength where and when told while you do the actual fitting! Consider contacting a local college and see if they would recommend some suitably sized student that would be willing ...

Re: skirting removal
Lets see if I can explain a spiral staircase without using my hands ! There is a horizontal strip at ground level which holds the base of the skirting. This is nothing more than a U shaped profile strip, nailed down, that the skirting sits in. Leave it alone unless you really have to change it...

Re: New Here
Hi David and welcome! Actually, you might want to consider re-bar in the walls and alarms on the windows - the problem isn't keeping a 10yr old daughter in, its keeping the boys OUT !! Seriously though, you will find plenty of helpful ideas here, and support if you do get into a bind. You will...

Nice looking job! Congratulations!
For the benefit of those that might like to do something similar, could you share what materials you used, how you put it together, how long it took, any particular problems you faced, etc?

Re: are there minimum height requirements for windows?
JD gave a good answer, but it may be a little confusing if you don't understand the background. A mobile or manufactured home is considered a vehicle in many states instead of a house. This means that they fall under the codes pertaining to RVs, since people live inside them. Because of this, a cert...

Re: Cleaning Intertherm unit floor ducts
Although I haven't done this myself (I was lucky in that my ducts are pretty clean anyway), if you are taking the air system down for maintenance, would there be a problem with pouring in several buckets of hot water with a high concentration of disinfectant, then using a pressure hose to clean them...
