Yesterday, as I was adjusting the temperature on my programmable thermostat, I noticed there was a burning plastic smell coming from my furnace. I turned off the pilot light ASAP when I noticed that there was fire pouring out of the little hole you light the pilot light from. I was thinking that there might have been some plastic that got caught in the module, or worse, there was a wire insulator that caught on fire.
It never made that smell or did that before. It only did that when I adjusted the thermostat.
What do you guys think?
