I have a shallow well pump with an expansion tank.
I'm looking to move all the plumbing inside except for probably the pump. This will make it easier to drain everything for the winter.
Does the expansion tank have to be close to the pump
or can it be further away from the tank?
I was thinking of moving it into the bathroom area and having
it at a point where all the different lines will branch off.
This will be about 12 feet over and 3 feet up.
expansion tank question

Perhaps read the data on the pump label. It should tell the amount of HEAD. That is kind of how many feet far away the pump will pump at X amount of pressure.
If it is too far away, the pump will get tired before it pumps that far. The amount of pressure on the expansion tank has to be figured into this formula.
Be sure to make the area where the tank will be, kind of water proof. Like when they put a metal pan with a drain hole under where a Hot Water tank sits.
If all else fails, get a hand operated water pump and a bucket. It will be good exercise. he he he.
