Hello all. I've heard horror stories about "duct cleaners" just ripping people off for no good reason. However, I just pulled up one of the registers, thinking I've had way too many sinus problems since we moved in Oct last year... YIKES! There must be 1/4 to 1/2 inches of "yuck" in the bottom of these ducts (obviously floor-register).
1992 FW SpringHill DW. Just wondering if I should even BOTHER with duct cleaning, or just resign to replacing the ducts. Thanks for any suggestions.
Tim
The "dreaded" duct cleaning... ?
Personally I would try a shop vac first, it takes a little engeneering but you can go from register to register and try cleaning it that way. Greg
"If I can't fix it, I can screw it up so bad no one else can either."
Try what Greg said, but be very gentle as MH ducts are fragile and mostly either thin aluminum or ductboard and will be damaged easily.
Would only use duct cleaning if proven to be reputable in cleaning MH ducts.
Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Some people are Humbly Grateful, while some are Grumbly Hateful.................... Which one are you ?
Thanks, guys. That's kind of what I was thinking.... a shop vac and some kind of "redneck engineering," even if I paid for it. I think I can handle it myself. Thinking something like....
