I can't say that I am to sure about the WOG wire. From what I can gather though here are some specs. Type THHN insulation, rated 90 degrees Celsius, 600 volts. Gray PVC jacket. Direct burial. Dwellings not exceeding 3 floors above grade. Underground feeder to outdoor lighting or apparatus. Exposed or concealed wiring in damp, moist, wet, dry, and corrosive locations. Use for general branch circuit wiring, new wiring or replacement wiring. General branch circuit wiring. New wiring or replacement wiring. Flame retardant, moisture, fungus, and corrosion resistant. U.L. Listed
I do know that the NM-B wire came about in 1984 when the NEC required the temperature rating of type NM cable to be increased from 60 degree celcius to 90 degree celcius to account for the newer thermal insulation used in homes, especially for recessed lighting.
Robert would likely know which is best to use.
