contstant burning dust smell
Hi there, I have a 1972 coleman presidential gas furnace and the fan switch went so it was replaced; immediately after replacing this switch ; The smell of burning dust is always present and strongest at the beginning at the cycle; Any ideas how to fix this problem or how to clean it out. The air in the mobile home as well as the furnace was checked and the tests have not found any traces of gas or anything but a dust burning smell.......Any ideas.... ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Have the furnace chamber and burner cleaned and inspected.
Did this just start happening and have you just moved in ?
Thanks,
Robert

good morning robert. thankyou for your quick response.
to answer your questions, the smell did not start until we replaced the fan switch. the first time turning the furnace on after replacing the switch is when it began.
yes, we just moved in. we have only lived here for approx. 2 months. when we moved in the furnace worked as far as heat but the fan would kick in and out 10 to 30 times after a cycle. we were insructed to change the fan switch, hense the odor after replacing it.
we had a gas inspector come yesterday to see if there was any kind of H2S gases etc. everything showed negetive.
will this fix itself with more use or should we get it serviced immediately?
your time and expertise is greatly appreciated.
have a good day.

I would have it cleaned and serviced, the blower not cutting on and off and running steady as it should is most likely kicking up all the settled dust.
For safety though to prevent any fires or have any serious problem inside chamber I would have it cleaned and serviced.
Get a reputable company who will only find what is there IF anything.
Take care and best wishes,
Robert
