I just moved the indoor thermostat selector to"cool" and went to water the lawn, but I heard a humming sound from the heat pump. I took the fan off and the sound is coming from the reversing solenoid switch. Is it supposed to be engaged all the time, even if the pump is not running?

The pump is a Colman BRHQ00361BB.

It cools and heats fine, just thinking maybe it shouldn't be engaging all the time because it got fairly hot too.

Thanks,
Gill

Hi Gill,

It will reverse as you switch from heat to cool and vice versa.

It will remain in that position until unit is reversed back.

IF you feel there may be a problem, have a Tech check it out.

Thanks,
Robert
