My dad came home from the farm yesterday and said the a/c unit jammed and is making a loud humming noise. I dont know the model # but it is a Coleman 1994. Could it just be overheated? Is there any way we could fix it ourselves?
Thanks :D

Hi Kyle,

Is it the outside condensing unit ?

If so, what jammed ?

Condenser Fan Motor or Compressor or both ?

DIY depends on what is wrong .

Has it ever been cleaned/serviced ?

Where are you located at in Tennessee ?

You can email me location to robert@mobilehomerepair.com if you

don't want to place on here.

Thanks,
Robert

Outside unit
I wasnt there, to me it sounds like it may be the fan motor. We had the same thing happen here and it had just overheated. But it coulbe be both.

Yes, last year.

Hi Kyle,

Those will cover the cleaning of condensing unit, a-coil, blower motor and wheel.

IF all of those are cleaned and still no go, use a ruler or something thin and push fan blades to see if they start spinning.

If so, probably a bad run capacitor. You can remove controls panel at unit and look at run cap for bulging, leaks, bad rusting, burn marks.

Know Bolivar area well, used to deer hunt alot in McNairy County.

Been up through that area alot. I'm north of Memphis.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
