a/c quit cooling last night
Our a/c quit cooling last night. Turned thermostat warmer in case coils were frozen, but they were not even cold. Inside, blower still runs. Checked furnace breakers, okay. Went outside to see if condenser was running, no. No noise at all. Unit is 12 years old. Only work ever done was changing the capacitor for the fan 7 years ago. Any suggestions? Inside had been been hissing lately when a/c would kick on.
Hi,
Remove controls cover at outside condensing unit and see if contactor middle bar is pulled in.
Sounds like the contactor is bad or something has chewed through the 24vac low voltage wiring to outside unit or the wiring has come loose.
Take care and best wishes,
Robert
