Coleman Evcon Presidential Direct Vent Forced Air Furnace

Over the past couple of weeks our air was getting weaker and weaker until finally it just stopped working. The entire bottom of the furnace where the air components are and the pipe leading into the house are covered in ice. The blower was just replaced last winter and seems to be working fine its just the air is not cold. Not much cold air comes out if any. Surely not enough to cool the house. Could someone please provide some insight as to what the problem may be? We can provide pictures if they are needed just let us know what to take a pic of. Thanks.

Hi,

Coils freeze due to faulty blower motors, dirty blower wheels, dirty filter, dirty a-coil and low charge.

Since you stated motor is ok, look at filter, wheel and be sure they are clean.

Then, clean the a-coil good.

Then have a Tech check the charge and if low, find and repair leak if possible.

If unit is empty (most likely), then pull a vacuum to clear out any air in system.

The cleaning is all DIY and then the rest (checking charge, etc.) needs to be done by an HVAC Tech.

In top toolbar, click HVAC, then click articles when HVAC page appears and read articles on cleaning your a/c and cleaning your furnace blower for helpful info and pics.

You probably have a leak and low charge, but cleaning all will assist in getting correct charge back into unit if that is what is wrong.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

We can hear a leak and it seems to be coming from the coils that look like two radiators forming an A (I assume this is the A-Coil). How much does an A coil cost and which one do we need?
